Great find and you just never know what is going to be in the bottom of that hole!  Well done with your perseverance, finding the two nails and keeping checking.

Foreign silver coins were commonly circulated in the USA up intil 1857 when a new law stopped that.  You said the park goes back to the 1840's so this likely was lost in the first 10 or so years of the park's existence.  Just think (you likely already have...) what else might be down there at the 10 inch level....  I bet you can't wait for spring thaw.

Yeah I can’t wait. It snowed 4 inches so I won’t be getting out for a while. Thanks

Well, I just read this thread and as incredible as this find is I want to also congratulate you on the 99 previous finds that caused you to go out and reach 100!  Each coin has a story and you told a very good one about number 100.

Have you ranked them?

Ah ok. So my next best finds were 2 Seated dimes, around 15 Barber dimes, 2 barber Quarters, an SLQ, a Kennedy Silver Half, and lots of Washington quarters, Rosies, and Mercs. Around 25 Indian Head Pennies too. My best relic this year was a beautiful turn of the century Skeleton Key, and my 2nd oldest coin was an 1843 Seated dime.
