Your probably right. But it's in my nature when it comes to contests , fake videos , etc. Fact is , these things do happen. And yes I'm new here , idk everybody. Plenty of con men throughout history that were highly respected in their fields who have gone down in flames is all I'm saying. I guess Steve has plenty of $ from the site to do whatever. It was just my idea for others to share the cost in donating probably more $ to charity and at the same time keeping it honest. But it is all about fun , charity and the ease for Steve to pull this off.

Maybe we can do this, We all can enter the contest (Or Not) for the best find of the month by donating say $10.00 (Or what ever Steve decides). Also less money out of Steve's pocket. Now that will cut down on the BS and act as a kind of lottery (not going to the person but the charity). The member gets the credit but not any out of pocket losses for his or her finds, Just the said amount to join the contest. So if you don't ante up the $ you are not part of the contest. (sound Fare?) We can do this through paypal, Venmo ect. It's kind of like the lottery, but for the charity and not the forum member. Also allow members to donate to the picked charity without entering the contest, with a link to the winners charity. This way we allow each member puts their money where their finds are, so to speak.  Lets just make this simple and fun to help other people than ourselves!!! Plus we can have bragging rights to some of the great finds we see here at DP almost every day. Also, Maybe ? We can have the #1 charitable donations winner of the year receive a GPZ7000 (just kidding HaHa) Some kind of special award or gift from a MFG. Or better yet a detecting lesson from Steve!!! I'm in whatever the process.

The idea of a time period for find entries works well. Entry date must be submitted by certain date following the end of month to qualify for the previous months entry and must be voted on by x date of that month to qualify. That gives everyone time to enter and vote.

Nobody charges that I know of to submit a find and I would not pay to submit mine because I spend enough of my money going out to look for them... The more good finds posted the more people come and look. Steve said he supports the forum by ads so the more looks the better.

Keep it simple...Winner gets money donated to a charity of their choice and gets a atta boy and the glory of the best find for that month... Needs a banner across the forum imo...

Is a new person going to give $10 dollars to this forum to post a great find?

What about those among us who are financial distress? 

I know we are all thinking out loud but I dont like the idea of charging money for posting finds for a number of reasons.

If someone has to plant a find or make a fake video to win a contest that donates to charity well I pity them... I see a big con job coming....💩...

I like the rule about not being able to question people about their finds on the forums..(Sure we get a few fakes) If that rule was not in place we would get jerks peeing all over peoples legit finds for nothing more than simple jealousy.

You mean for the contest entries or finds in general?  (Have there been postings about such a rule?  If so, I've missed it.)

How about we just keep doing what we are doing.  If you post a picture of a find and you want to post it in the contest page, too, great.  If not, that is ok too.

Then all the folks that care about it can go over there and give it all the likes they want.   Steve tallies the likes at the end of the month and presto, he has a winner.

Done and over with.  No special rules, no special drama, no special money.

I've seen some really cool finds from a lot of the guys on here. Perhaps a runner up each month and an honorable mention. Three possibilities. No prize for them. Just the recognition of a really good find with a record kept. If I would happen to land in any of those spots.I would think it an honor. It sounds like fun however it works out.
