Nice finds again.

Good luck when you go back out there again.

Great finds again F350! Your on some good stuff!

To me, that hole looks way to centered, and not deformed enough to be a gunshot! But anything is possible!

I had just commented on another post about another coin that look's more like a gunshot, but the coin and hole are too small, and was probably done with a hammered nail on a softer surface!

Your's reminds me of a hand drilled, or punched coin! Notice the excess metal on the bottom side is also compressed, not blown out! Or they could have hammered down the burs, to keep the sharp edges from catching, and keep it spendable!??

They've also been used as washers in a pinch! No hardware store around the corner like today! But I don't see any circular wear mark's on it, for that use!

Always fun to play CSI on old coins and artifacts!!👍👍

True. Could have been hammered after being shot or just badly drilled and filed. 🙂 Happy to have found it, it's the largest American coin I've found. I did find a half cent a long time ago.

Holed coins are the  "in"  thing right now.   The patina on it is great.

Cool. Looks like it was shot then hammered down. Up there with putting coins on RR tracks as kids :)

Ha, yeah, if you like Bronze Disease 😀 Not sure what to do to stop it. Wish it went the way of the Indian heads I've found, or a nice brown like the 1809 half penny I dug. 🙂
