    • I want a GPX 6000 and am trying to line one up now
    • I do not see anything here that interests me, will not be getting one
    • I’m just not sure, interested, but need more information

Just curious, so time for a poll! Who is taking the leap, and who is hanging back?

  • Steve Herschbach changed the title to Poll - Who Is Getting A GPX 6000 And Who Is Not?

Interested, I like the weight and the relative compactness. If it's as hot as they say on small gold my SDC and GPX may finally hit retirement. I'll wait 6-8 months and see what the consensus is.

Interested about how it does in salt still and how that 14" feels swinging day in and out. Lost hope that I'll find out without buying it myself, and given my current lineup of equipment it doesn't seem worth it to me personally. If it was $2k I'd buy it just to find out, $6k no thanks. If all I owned was a 4500/5000/SDC/GPZ with no coils, I'd be all over this one too as it's going to pull a lot of dinks up those machines miss.

If field reports convince me it can find me more than $6k worth of stuff my GPZ w/coil selection is missing then I'll pick one up though. Otherwise I'll hold off on the hope a new Z is in the works.

I’m thinking of posting a Zed or GPX wanted add in the classifieds, should have some really good used deals for clean stock units coming up soon! 😉

I got one coming fully paid for.  Having second thoughts now as the body seems to be running out of gas sooner rather than later.....  Cut todays hunt short and you couldn't have had a nicer day to hunt.  Used the SDC today with the Coiltek 5 x 10, I like it!

Oneguy I would love to hear a review on what you think of that coil.  I’ve been thinking about putting that coil on my SDC for a long time now.  Would love to hear comparisons with the 8 inch standard coil.

That’s exactly what I did with the new DJI FPV drone. And I ended up getting $300 off a basically brand new drone because somebody got motion sickness when they used it. Rich people usually buy stuff to try and then sell it off pretty cheap.  Which is kind of funny because they probably could just return it and get all their money back.

Get a GPX 6000 to use on your old patches before someone else does!  You will be glad you did.

I was on the team, as were Nenad and JP. Any others here? In any case, if you have specific questions about the GPX 6000, ask away, and get straight answers. If it violates our NDA expect to be told so. In general, Minelab simply does not want how they make the sausage advertised to one and all. So don’t ask about how the sausage got made, or why it tastes like it does. That part is done, and we can’t talk about it anyway. Is the machine perfect? No. But I’ll tell you what, it’s a sweetie for sure. I smell a detector classic, simple, to the point, powerful, gets the job done. That being the case, everyone who took part in it is pretty proud of the final effort. My part was modest, I’m sure, but I for one will be bragging about it for as long as I’m around. Congratulations to Minelab and the entire team. My special thanks to Eng and Simon. 👍🏼
So any questions about the best little detector ever (just go with it)?  Yes, I do think that if a person can afford it, then this machine is the machine to have right now for the U.S. If you are like me, you can ditch everything else, use the GPX 6000 exclusively, and be a nugget slayer. Add a Gold Monster or Equinox 800 with discrimination for nugget detecting perfection.

More on coils. The tops are just to shed debris and attach to detector.
GPX11 mono, exactly 11" diameter, 562 grams coil and cable only (no scuff cover or coil bolt)

      Minelab GPX11 mono coil underside
GPX14 DD, exactly 14" diameter, 892 grams coil and cable only

      Minelab GPX14 coil underside
      GPX17 mono, exactly 17" x 13", 802 grams coil and cable only

      Minelab GPX17 coil underside
      GPX 6000 lower rod
21.5" long, 17.7 mm (0.70 in) diameter tube, 1 mm wall thickness, end 0.90 in width, round washer part# 4005-0117

I've suggested to steveg that a 24" rod would be a nice option. Have to take care of the tall people!
