Aptx Low Latency Bluetooth Receivers That Work - Equinox, Vanquish, GPX 6000

Ok, so these turned up on Thursday - actually early - excellent!

These things are much smaller and lighter than I was expecting which is nice. They easily sit in a top pocket or could be velcroed to a harness or something.

image.png.0bc7de0decdfe8344988f4e1de25aa8b.png

Played with them Thursday night and they both connected but at home the GPX6 was going crazy with EMI so got out this arvo for a couple of hours to really see if they work properly.

The SoundPeats - connect easy, very good sound quality, bring up the Bluetooth + sign on the GPX6.  Used them for about 2 hours and they did not drop out a single time.  Very happy with them.  Obviously no comment re: battery time as yet.

Not that it this is a downside for me, as I only brought these for detecting, but I cannot get them to Transmit from either the TV or the GPX6.  If I wanted them for that I would be returning them but like I said, I have no intention for using them for anything except detecting.   Maybe I need to clear device history or something but I won't bother.

Another thing to note is that the audio coming through is just perfect using the Philips Sports 'sitting just out the ear' ear buds.  Even a tiny bit louder and they would be too loud and this is with the GPX6 audio turned right down.  Someone using in-ear ear buds might actually benefit from using a booster to turn the volume down a little.  Most of you would know but these are purely a Transmitter/Receiver - there is no Volume control.

The TaoTronics - I connected these at the end of the detecting session just to see if they work.  One thing I have found is that I have to Factory Reset the GPX6 before trying to connect a different Bluetooth device otherwise it just keeps searching for ages.  After a Factory Reset it connects quite quickly.   The TaoTronics did connect and the audio was clear and a little louder than through the SoundPeats device (a little too loud).  But, it would not connect with the Bluetooth + sign.  After getting home and checking the Amazon write up I found this:

  • LOW DELAY: Low Latency for High-fidelity Stereo Sound, lag-free content streaming in transmitter mode. Low Latency supported Bluetooth receiver is required.

So, they are Low Latency but only in Transmitter Mode - missed that one.

Incidentally, they do work perfectly well in Transmitter Mode and will therefore be used for TV so someone can watch the footy or a movie and not have the TV distracting someone else.

So, a big YES vote for the SoundPeats being used as a Receiver for the GPX6.

A big NO vote for the Tao Tronics due to no Low Latency when used in Receive mode.

A medium YES vote for the little bits of yella found for the evening  😀

0.64 grams.

Nice gold and coin! 👍

Yesterday I ordered these, they came out in December 2020. They are "on ear" but supposedly quite loud. Aptx-LL, I'll let you know how they work as they are only $39. They might be great for hot days.

Any gold is nice gold!

Was that 3rd piece in the line in your hand a 'found' piece or a break-off?  I know you have big hands but that is a ridiculously small nugget for any detector.

I don’t know what to say except sorry for posting the bad advise

Don’t be sorry, it was the same brand but a different device.  100% my fault for not reading its specs properly.  Happily it has already found a home on our TV.  Watched a fishing show late last night, didn’t keep anyone awake and it worked perfectly.

All’s well that ends well  😉

A found piece Mitchel.  The GPX6 is crazy sensitive.  It really is almost finding Gold Monster size bits.

I did a significant amount of research into this and settled on this one.

14 hours battery life, decent well known brand and it has the Csr8685 chipset.  The latest version while many on the market still have the older Csr8650.

https://www.qualcomm.com/products/csr8675

The receiver mode supports atpX HD not LL, so may not be suitable for some but I'm using it as a transmitter.

Of course like everything Bluetooth it's backwards compatible so will work with older chipsets like the atpX Low Latency Minelab use in their headphones, It's very simple to use which I found a must, I didn't want a bunch of options and input ports that I'd never use seeing it's just for a detector.  Simplicity and lack of "features" was a plus.

I intend to use it as a transmitter for my older style GPX 5000 to pair to the Minelab Bluetooth headphones that came with my Vanquish that I've never used, the same as the Nox ones my 800 came with which are also never used , along with a Bluetooth LL portable speaker as an alternative to the much slower ProSonic seeing I had to return mine and was left without an option other than seeking an aftermarket replacement.

I'll report on how it goes once it arrives.

These seem the way to go for those wanting those funky neck style speakers.  I'll try get some, hard to get as they seem to be only sold in Japan.  These are a high end brand so they won't be cheap, currency conversion from the Japanese price indicates $168 USD.

They're certified atpX Low Latency and splash proof so suitable for detecting I'd imagine.  A lot more hardy than other options available.

Unfortunately in Japanese but you can translate with Google 🙂

Listed on the aptX website as certified low latency.

This is the model number: AT-NSP700TV

13 hour run time, and they have a charging station which doubles as a transmitter for your TV etc.  They also just turn on by the knob on the right side in the photo, it also does volume control.

Got the headphones, they are cheap but they connect with b+, are loud and even have bass boost. They're very light, sit on your ears instead of over them so you can hear ambient noise. For $39 they're really good. 22 hour run time.

Pretty cool so far, going to take them out for a full test drive tomorrow.

Morning all,

I have been looking for something that will essentially work like a WM08 (the Equinox wireless receiver) but on the GPX 6000.  Something that can then simply have any type of earphone, earbud, on ear or over ear headphones attached to it.

I specifically wish to plug some Philips Sports earbuds into a Receiver.  They sit out of the ear to allow some ambient sound in so you are aware of surroundings.  And don't sit inside your ear like a proper ear bud that can get all sweaty and yuck.  I've used the Philips before and they are perfect for me.

image.thumb.png.42dedbd0740102bf9778ef00703d3d29.png

The supplied Minelab GPX 6000 headphones work great - but I'm not keen on headphones as they are hot and they make it difficult to wear a broad brimmed hat.  I do recognise there are other hat options.

The non Bluetooth options:

The Quest kit is great (  http://phasetechnical.com.au/product/quest-wirefree-mate-kit/  )  and  although I know they work really well, they definitely only pair with each other and I do not want to attach a Transmit unit to the GPX 6000 - possibility of EMI, an extra thing to get knocked off, an extra thing to charge and the functionality of a Bluetooth LL Transmitter is already in the GPX so why not use it!! 🤪

The Minelab Pro Sonic is too expensive and would need a Transmitter attached to the detector.

The Garrett Z-Link - would also need a Transmitter attached to the detector.

Bluetooth APTX Low Latency options:

I have ordered the Avantree AS70 as it said they were due for release at the start of June.  But since ordering (4 days ago) that has been changed to the end of July  😤    https://avantree.com/au/as70-bluetooth-adapter-for-headphones   They are the latest version of the Clipper Pro previously mentioned on DP as having worked well.  The Clipper Pro seems completely unavailable now.

I like the look of the AS70 and Clipper Pro as they have a good clip that will attach to a shirt, collar, harness or whatever.

There are these  https://avantree.com/au/lock-bluetooth-transmitter-receiver-set    but they are a pair and I wonder if the Receive unit will work directly with the GPX or will it only pair with the Transmit unit (it does say auto pairing with each other in the write up).

Chase Goldman had previously mentioned these as working well:

TaoTronics 65ft Bluetooth Transmitter/Receive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BMT9BY

TROND Bluetooth V5.0 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4W40VC/       Newer version here     https://www.amazon.com/TROND-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Indicator-Simultaneously-dp-B01K8ANDCI/dp/B01K8ANDCI/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

I notice the TaoTronics is currently unavailable on Amazon.

At this stage I may get one of the newer Trond units as that will at least be a back up for my upcoming big trip and may end up being my main unit if the Avantree does not turn up in time.

There are a few others mentioned on this site  http://www.aptx.com/  but some look el-cheapo, some are no longer made (the site is not kept up to date in that regard), none of them have a clip to attach to clothing and I am unsure if any of them actually pair with a Vanguish/Equinox/GPX6.

Anything that pairs and works well in Low Latency with the Equinox/Vanquish should work well with the GPX 6000.  Would be even happier if my Equinox WM08 just hooked up (shame on you Minelab 😜)

So my questions, finally!

What other brands have worked for people?

Is the audio quality good?  Manufacturing quality good?  Somewhat weatherproof?

Is the Low Latency good?

Have they paired easily with no issues?

What sort of time frame are the batteries lasting for most people?

Hoping you good people can share some 1st hand experiences - good or bad - and this can be a one stop resource for others searching for a similar device.

Cheers, N.E.  👍

I have used a lot of these and he's right some work great why will they not install the same Bluetooth that's a little faster like that's in the module or other modules I have used and it has the + sign by the headphone icon in upper right corner screen of the Equinox when they are connected. Wi-stream I think it is which it's way faster connecting to it even. I wish I could find headphones that worked same with it

I purchased one of these about 18 months ago but have only used it for watching tv with headphones on occasion so as not to disturb others. Sometimes I notice the lip sync to be a bit out but generally seems acceptable. It will connect to my EQX 800 as a receiver and the "+" symbol shows when it is connected. So I would presume it would be OK on a 6000.
