Adendum: One thing I should mention here that goes in the 6000’s favour with regards to outright depth when comparing the GPX 5000 to the GPX 6000. The 6000 uses much more modern electronics as such it is less prone to Sferic noise so theoretically it should achieve better outright depth than its predecessor, this is because the Stabiliser function is allowed to be opened up a lot more on the 6000 (part and parcel of GeoSense).

The other reality is Monoloop coils will produce a more defined deep target signal which can be more obvious compared to the more subtle broad signal response generated by DOD coils.

So in reality the 6000 in hobbyists hands is a better fit for the vast majority of detector operators looking for ease of use thanks to lightness of weight and simplicity in both the user controls and target signals.

Reg is having a break from freezing Victoria for a month or so. On a road trip with partner Jannine to sunny QLD and the NT while Covid allows.

Detectors verboten, only expert photographer Jannine's cameras!  ☺️

Good grief!!! It's all gone to hell in a hand basket here. Got to Queensland to see an old mate awaiting serious surgery with plans to go on to Darwin in the Northern Territory. Covid Delta variety has escaped and run amuck within a few days, forcing Jannine and myself to make a run through two borders, abandoning our plans to continue north. We got permits to cross borders just before a full lock down.

The only positive is that I got to check some 'leg wetting' ground that I would love to prospect with my good buddy and geo wizard JR. Some serious research required mate.

One signal turned out to be gold. Very small gold.

I didn't persist with that spot as better ground beckoned which yielded a patch of many solid and specimen bits, the best being a fourteen ounce speci which yielded a nice lump over eight ounces when soaked in acid. The patch gave JR Beatty and myself a half kilo all up. The bigger speci was pretty deep but gave a broad but definite signal.

I will get round to having another crack at the pellet infested ground down my paddock..... one day.
