Back home from the beach. Got a beautiful day today, low 80s, North wind. Went to the hill over the river, I mowed it a bit more yesterday, so I wanted to see if the Coiltek 10x5 could pull some more from a place I have searched pretty heavily with the standard coil.98584856_2021-07-2221_27_46.thumb.jpg.e2b56b33744733b73cbdc70771658e88.jpg

I wasn't disappointed. Not much, but old coins and jewelry are always welcome. Copper scale that indicates from 0 to 25 something, Gold plated stamped pin with a purple stone, may be amethyst but possibly purple dyed paste. I'm glad the stone is still there, barely held in by the pins. 1941 wheat I think, and an old stamped button from Boston.

This hill is infested with nails and large pieces of iron, but the 10x5 cuts the good stuff out like a knife. 😎

Cool finds, Love the scale gauge and the pin, Most likely colored glass like you said but still a great find.

Thanks.

I think it's a fish scale, the hill is overlooking the river. Probably one that looks like this:

Yup, I agree. Hope your wife knows you put some holes in the wall for a new display? HaHaHa

Well she is getting a bit antsy about all the Riker cases I'm filling up. Just had to get 3 more. 😀

I make my own cases, working on a coffee table display for a friend.

Great work, love the... Oak? 🤔 That's a fascinating slide-in rig you did there.20210812_183159.thumb.jpg.0dd77208a709015126a35d800d764b0e.jpg

I can get some custom cases at the metal detector shop I go to now and again. This one is cedar. The maker uses wood pins.

That's a nice one, The one in the photo is actually Chestnut from an 1856 barn. I reclaim all kinds of old boards and beams. I'm basically a junk collector HaHa

Stone could be amethyst. Clean it up and look for inclusions. Cool pin.

Looked at it closely with a loupe, and tested it with a diamond tester. The stone had lots of deep scratches, and it's not a crystal. Most likely paste or glass. It is very cool though, the setting is very old but not cast, it's stamped and plated, very fragile. I'm thinking mid 1800s to 1900s. Glad you got me to think of doing that! 👍
