GPX 6000 Running A 15x10" X-coil

Is that one of yours, unchipped?

No, it's in Russia, and it's using the chip from a standard coil, the chip from the standard coil was removed to do this, and they would require an adapter to run.

At some point I'll certainly be using one with these coils, I want small coils for my detecting, this 15x10" is one of my favourite coils though, I like elliptical shaped coils for detecting here with our rocky terrain.

🤔. A chip and an adapter, not just a chip?

The chip goes into an adapter, maybe I worded it so it doesn't make sense 🙂

I see, not built in the coil.  So maybe sacrifice a coil for a chip to build an adapter plug.

You could still use the original coil without the chip.  Just some open heart surgery 😉

Hi Phrunt, So is the chip cut from within an original coil & that coil then mended over with the chip being used to make an adapter in a same/similar way as the gpz 7000 X coil adapter that is then on the outside of the coil.  So the chip is going from the inside of the coil to the outside in the form of an inline coil cable adapter & able to be interchanged between ML GPX coils & X coils? I guess the adapter would be at the top end connection going into the control box? Interesting. I am picking that the 15x10 X coil is a mono.

Thank you

Greg.

That's right, the chip is removed from the original coil by surgery 🙂 And then an adapter is made in a similar way to the GPZ X-coil adapter, up near the control box the original coil cable is cut, and the chip is added inline as part of the plug that goes into the detector so the adapter becomes a universal adapter to run the X-coils.  All early days so far but progress for those that want different coils and are willing to do the adjustments necessary.

Thanks. Guess that will ruffle a few feathers just like I noticed the GPZ 7000 X coil adapter did. Was only a matter of time I suppose before the Russians did this for the 6000. Will give the detecting community more options, which is a good thing isn't it?

Early wet Weather in Northern Nevada, sure messed up a few of my hunts!  But, this last Hunt was called Rain or Shine!  Be there or miss out with the original hunting party.  We had half the amount of coils on the ground during this hunt and managed to find a few sweet spots of dinks to add to our pokes.  Rain on us with snow in the ground 200’ above us all 4-Days!  6000, Retune Button got a workout.  I kept the 11” Mono on.  Tried the DD for a few hours with no luck, don’t know if the ground and line I took was bad, but the guys behind me where finding nuggets…so back to the 11”.  My truck is out in the drive way in the wet Weather still loaded up with me gear!  Getting wet again to unload it, I can’t wait 🤨
      Until the next Hunt!

Is there or has there been any comparison testing done in the field on depth with the 6000 vs the 7000 using the NF 12" Z-search coil.
      Thanks . . .

I had something strange happen, today. I had my GPX 6000 battery fully charged and fresh off the charger.  It had completed its charge cycle and then trickle charged overnight.  I popped it in the detector and started detecting. Within five minutes the battery meter dropped from three bars to two bars.  If I turned off the detector and let it sit for a 5-10 minutes and then turned it back on, it would go back up to three bars for a short period of time before then going back to two bars. Has anyone else noticed this with theirs?

as I already put in another post, I just bought a second-hand gpx 5000.  It comes with the comander 11 DD and 11Mono coils.  I would like if it is possible for a colleague to recommend a coil to complement the ones it brings.  Its use would be to search for coins.  I've been looking at the detech 15 inch DD ultra sensing.  If anyone has used it, what can you tell me about it?

Hey all, still have a gpx 4000 I bought from AK M&D. Guess it's time for an upgrade. My Question is does the 4500 have enough improvements to justify the upgrade

After reading all items available I am confused.  It's probably just me so I apologize if this is a dumb question.  In soil that has low mineralization which coil will go deeper and is more suitable, a DD coil or a mono coil of equal size?  Or in low mineralization does it not matter if you use a DD or a mono coil?
