Forgot to add this old brass spur I dug, it was pretty deep.

Anyone know any dating on these?

Found it:

Spur, Model 1859, Federal officer, scroll adornment.
Spur was authorized under the Regulation 1859, and was issued to the officer cavalryman, large numbers were used in the 1864 cavalry campaigns.  Spur is sturdy construction, exterior bar is rounded, interior bar is flat without strengthening groove, scroll adornment is cast in around the neck, neck is curved, rowel was often removed or damaged from use.

And it's a Civil war relic! 🤦‍♂️ Threw it in my truck after I dug it, and totally forgot it. 🤣

No maker's mark, but nearly identical to the one I researched. 😵 Lotta photos. Mine had the spur, the one they show has a plain "rowel".

The identification guide is $80, don't think I'll buy it unless I find more.

That's what buddies like Chase are for.    CW relics are always both surprising and pleasing for me when I occasionally stumble onto one.  That's a very nice one in my un-expert eye.

It was whacked by a lawnmower and maybe my shovel a little bit 🙄 it was bent badly when I pulled it from the ground. A crescent wrench works wonders if used carefully. 🤗
