Garrett 24k Balance...

The weight is about the same as a T2se. Is the balance of a 24k similar to the T2se?

Yes, though T2 still takes the prize. Basically any detector without a battery box under the elbow is going to be nose heavy. A properly balanced detector should ride on a single outstretched finger under the grip, hanging at a roughly 45 degree angle. Most detectors will roll forward and fall off, and the degree to which they want to do this is a measure of the arm leverage it takes to merely hold the coil in the proper position. That comes mainly from the forearm and wrist, and even though a better balance usually means more weight, it actually means less arm strain, as the muscles used to support sheer weight are in better shape for the job over a long day.

T2se balances on your finger at the grip. The 24k/GMX are great detectors. Something special with them. I had GMX and should have kept it. Would be used on lake beaches, shallow water and maybe some relic hunts. Would rather have it waterproof but that's the way it is.

The T2 was designed with a very specific eye to the balance and torque, and is probably the best machine made in that regard. The 24K is still slightly nose heavy with the stock coil - the battery box should have went back just a bit. But better than any "pod on a stick" models, and great with small coils, like the 6” concentric.

Rick ... right after unpacking the box and assembling the Garrett Goldmaster 24K, I noticed how well this detector is balanced .. with a 6x10 "coil without a coil cover ... because - a box with batteries under the armrest can balance the detector really well ...

This way, the detector is excellently usable in detection as well.

To absolute perfection ... maybe something is still missing a bit .... ,, but when using a lighter coil ... such as nell snake  coil... this detector will be really perfectly balanced.
