Popular Post F350Platinum
Finally got to do some gold testing on a couple of rings I found, a small ring on a hill behind my house, and a wave ring I got beach hunting. My wife is happy. 😀 The ring I found on the hill, on the left, tested out at 10k. 10k solution on left and 14k on right. Here is the test for the wave ring, 18k on the right and 22k on the left. The hill ring may have had a stone or maybe is an earring. It has a dark spot where something appears to have been attached. The wave ring was a 1 ID, and the other was a 5. Glad I have proof I've found gold with my Equinox 600. 😎
Joe Beechnut OBN
Love finding Gold bands, nice haul... Something to think about, do a deeper scratch test. What happens is... one scratch removes just the surface area. Deeper will get you a sure reading... below surface...if it happens to be plated. 5

Got the wave ring on my first beach hunt last spring, and dug the band on a hill out behind my house over the summer. Kac told me what test kit to buy a while back, I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to check to see if the gold was real. I did the test many times to be sure, and did scratch the same spot to see if they were plated. I also used my wedding ring as a control. I photographed each test and used the best pictures. I wasn't too comfortable with the procedure! 😀 Thus far I've only dug these two questionable rings, and both of course didn't have a hallmark. Beginner's luck I guess 🤔
