Steve Herschbach
The Tarrangower Times http://www.tarrangowertimes.com.au of Australia is reporting a 279.55 ounce gold nugget recently found in the area. Hopefully more details on the story will emerge soon. 2

1864hatter
Looks rather unusual for a natural nugget. Call me sceptical
Steve Herschbach
The texture looks off to me, more like something made in a mold. But I do not get to look at very many 279 oz nuggets so what do I know? Should be a lot more news in the next few days.
Bob(AK)
Sure is strange looking, but each nugget has its own characteristics
RKC
G'day, That "nugget" is a fake! My all-time favourite photo of fake gold is this one ... The really fun part of the Internet are the fake posts and staged photos that are often posted. I always get a good laugh when someone posts a photo of a nugget sitting in a freshly dug hole in the dirt when its obvious the nugget has long before been treated with acid. PastTom
The answer will indeed come in time. I suspect the Aussies are not any ones fool about phony nuggets. It is a tough call to make from one or two photos and maybe if it was a fake they would do a better job making it look real. I am sure it will be checked out. I can't imagine they didn't run basic tests first thing. It is not likely someone used 280 ounces of real gold to 'make' a nugget. PastTom

klunker
Had to send the snake in for repair. 4000 is fine.
