This is some more nuggets a guy I know found in Venezuela, South America, he found them in December.  It goes to show there is some big stuff down that way.

That is some amazing gold. I was starting to post about how there is no way I would fly into that country and swing a $6000 machine around, then my mind started to devise a plan on how I could do it.
Let’s just say, Simon, if your friend will host us and is well armed, I will bring night vision goggles and tell my wife I am Mexico on a guys trip.

Gold detecting seems very popular there, a guy imports and resells X-coils to the locals there and makes their adapters for them, it's become quite a big market and with gold like that I'm not surprised, for some reason he almost always goes for the 17x12" size, must suit their ground and gold type.  He never mentions it being dangerous but I guess it could well be especially for foreigners I suppose.

Gold may have more 'value' there than any other country right now because of the lack of goods and services.

Someone posted something on here maybe a year or two ago about people paying for haircuts with gold there.
Simon, the United States government sees Venezuela as a corrupt and dangerous country. Whether that is true or not, that is what we are fed through our media. *This is not a political discussion*.  I had my metal detectors held for ransom for almost 2 weeks flying into Mexico. I could see greater problems flying into Venezuela, hence my initial comment. I could be completely off basis because I have never tried. But your post really makes me want to tempt fate.
