Popular Post strick
Back in my college days I spent a fair amount of time studying with this beautiful french girl. We always sat across the table from each other and spent more time talking than studying. These days I don't remember the class or even her name anymore but can still see her in all her natural beauty.... long dark hair, big brown eyes, always smiling and dressed nicely....I could keep going but this is supposed to be about a metal detector... Disclaimer: There are no great finds here just junk 😄 but I thought I might as well post something in this slow moving sub forum as 350 platinum has been doing all the heavy lifting lately. I received my deus 2 last week and have been itching to try it out so yesterday I went out for a 2 hour hunt. The site is an old town site..I've been hunting it since 2015 off and on and I think I've got only 7 silver coins. None have come easy. There is lots of shot gun caps 22 casings and a variety of other junk still in the ground but true high conductors are very rare, In fact I've found my last 3 silver coins off the beaten path far from where the small town was. For this hunt I stayed in the pounded iron ridden ground as I wanted to see if could scrape anything up that may have been missed. I ran the Deus 2 in deep HC and park 5? I think it was. Previously to the hunt I had turned on the detector and fiddled with the buttons at home for a total of about 15 minutes and read about 7 pages of the manual 🙂 so I really did not know what I was doing but I do have a dues 1 that I kinda know how to operate. I hunted the two stock programs only changing the disk, recovery speed and the silencer. I did not hunt slow like mentioned in the article by Mr. Stout. I hunted my normal speed which is medium fast. Impressions: It's deep. Deeper than the Deus 1 with regular 9 inch coil. The targets that would have been squeakers on the deus 1 came in loud and clear with the deus 2. It seems to see into the nails well as I dug a couple targets that had nails in the hole with the target. I only dug a couple of deep iron targets out of curiosity just to confirm they were in fact iron. It's fast like the Deus 1 but the tones are different and will take some getting used to as with any new detector. In the short 2 hour hunt I came away impressed..mainly by it's depth. I really need to get it up in the foot hills now and see how it does in the dirt up there... I think it's going to be a keeper and I'm looking forward to spending some time with this new french girl. strick
rvpopeye
Starting out that fast with a new french girl huh ? OK so now , what's the french word for junk ? 🤪 I always find it interesting to see non metal finds that get collected like that piece of glass... A gear brings questions of what it was part of and all the brass hints of possible varmint dinners ? Wondering helps pass the time between the beeps ! Now I wonder if we all put our best junk in frames+shadow boxes and did an art show in a big city , we'd find true gold ! 🤩
Tometusns
Strick , Nice review! I have for the most part been taking the Legend to similar type locations and while the finds haven’t been the greatest it’s been performing very well. I have a friend who got the deus2 and the better depth he was very impressed with as well. His thoughts were after you’ve hammered a spot with the deus1 you will get some more targets with the D2 but you’re not gonna fill a bucket with them. I’m finding the same kind of results with the legend going to spots I’ve hammered with the equinox and D1. Someday I could see me owning a D2 just because I want every advantage I can get lol. But, the D1, Equinox and now the Legend are all very capable machines and fit my style of hunting very well. I’m thinking for now I’ll just keep all three cause I know each one will find me some treasure! 😁
strick
Yes exactly...they are not game changers...a flogged out spot is just that...unlike gold detectors which can sniff out the tiniest size stuff we’re talking coins and relics which are much larger. I forgot to mention my Deus 2 has the 9 inch coil as well. The belt buckle and brass shot gun shell were surrounded by iron but they were deep. The Deus Id them while sounding off on the iron as well...been over this area many times with Nox ctx Deus 1 etc...the Deus 2 seems to perform in iron as the Deus 1 did but deeper. deathray
Glad to see someone I know post on the d2. I almost bought one on a whim the other day...but decided it wasn't worth the fight at the moment. Then my detecting partner bought one, said it's gonna replace his ctx, and alocal guy has them. That means I can grab some cash, avoid the explaining, haha 2
F350Platinum
I'm intrigued by the ball in the hexagon thingy. 🤔 Some sort of buckle? I'd say that was a fine hunt for having a distracting French girl along... 🙄 👍

I've found a few similar to that -- from a clock I'm pretty sure. (But I still haven't found my first thimble!) Thanks for the report, strick. When I have a day like this it makes me appreciate the better days. If every day brought a handful of old coins it wouldn't be nearly as exciting when one of those comes along so rarely.

My wife's in charge of paying all the bills so I cant slip nothing by her 😄 350- its some sort of clasp or costume jewelry I'll take a close up but its not all that great... strick
