Well @kac was right. Saw a kid out metal detecting the volleyball court yesterday, he had a Garrett AT. That must be why I didn't find much there, but I pillaged the tot lot. 🤣 Haven't seen him anywhere else. He also wouldn't have found anything unless he dug really deep. He had a trowel digger only, and that dirt under the sand is mostly clay.

On the clay beneath the sand thing.

When I start to find layers like that.    I carry a sheet of heavy plastic and put the different color dirt on it.   Then  dump it back in the hole first and push the sand back over it  !

(I also use the plastic sheet method a lot digging up lawns to keep the plug location as untouched as I can.)

I have a Frisbee that rolls up. I could do that, I'd rather the kid search over there while I'm wiping out the rest of the place. 😈
