Pregnant Coil Gpz?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I need a lil help on a recently aquired GPZ 7k stock coil.

This coil I received has a pregnant bottom, hi in the center with the rest of the coil lower.

Going to test it out but figured I would ask you all if you ever experienced seen this or is this shape coil bottom ok?

Thanks and hope you find lots of nuggets under your coils!!

Pull the skid plate off and check to see if the previous owner has put a bit of sticky back foam sheet in there to help stop the " drumming " hollow noise. The other possibility is that the skid plate is slightly mal formed.

Wouldn't hurt to do this anyway just to clear any dirt out of the skid plate.

About to head out will see what happens.

Have to roll heavy as I am just testing the Z, if it has issues I will stop right away and send it back.

Yep new carpet or new detector..lol you see the choice I had to make..lol

More horse shoes than soda cans to you all!!

Did you buy it from someone living at a low altitude and take it up to a high altitude?

Pretty sure those stock GPZ coils have a pressure relief valve on them, could be faulty or blocked? Or at least, I thought that's the purpose of that valve looking thing... Just wondering if someone siliconed it shut or something to put into the water.

You can unscrew the vent and let the pressure out if it's that.

Yes I unscrewed the pressure valve and it's not air its the shape of the bottom of the coil, got a bump in the middle higher than the rest of the coil bottom.

The coil is in new condition along with the rest of the detector.

The coil and machine do function.

This coil is just quite a bit deformed and all of my other coils Minelab or aftermarket have nice strait flat bottoms.

Thanks for the suggestions....debating whether to send in for warranty on the coil.

Yes, send it in for warranty, don't put up with flaws on such an expensive product and who knows the coils integrity maybe compromised and it become bump sensitive or noisy because of it very quickly.
