PS…. Bring flexible ankle boots. 😉

One day I woke up on my land and realized that entire area is my Kathy Bates. I got out, haven't been back since, and have no intention of ever returning, thanks though. 🙂

Here's a story: I was exploring an abandoned building with a friend when I was 12 or so, we walked into a room with trash laying around, etc that we were kicking around, and out of nowhere this utterly crazy guy grabbed me with a knife as my friend ran off. I managed to kick and punch my way out and ran out as the dude threw his knife at me but thankfully missed. Never in my life have I felt that sense of relief at escaping what seemed like a fated end. As adults, we think it was my friend's dad's buddy playing a bad joke on us when they saw us going in a place we were told not to go. But still, the feeling of freedom was something I'll never forget. Until the day I saw Dolan springs in my rear view mirror, the open road ahead, and smiled as I realized I never again had to go back, and I remembered that exact feeling I had when I was 12. Too many absolute crazies out there, too much crime, too many dirt bags.

But thanks for the invite. You are around much better people up there in Meadview than were slumming in the basin, it's just not an area I want to revist again in general though. No need to tempt fate twice.

Honestly, even though I own firearms, I really dislike carrying them. I grew up around them as nothing out of the ordinary but the older I get, the less I want to feel like I have to keep them with me.

So, I refuse to live any place I feel like I have to have a gun for safety. The only exception would be living in a cabin up in the mountains where I'm watching for grizzlies when I'm out exploring, not meth heads. Any other place that I feel I have to carry for self defense, I'll just move instead.

It's why I love Wyoming, even though it's too cold and too windy here for most people. I don't see another soul out when I'm exploring, I literally see more literal, real, lone wolves then people. And the people I do see are mostly ranchers who are just working the land, living honest lives. This is the kind of life I seek as I get older.

I went skydiving once, that was enough for me.

Poor guy has another faulty GPX, this time its got to be the detector as it does the same with both the 11' and DD.

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you, too
Another one bites the dust

When I was in the RCMP we had a video circulating of a member (RCMP officer) taking a friendly drunk to cells (drunk tank)…. When I think of poor @jasongout there wondering if this 6000 noise was real life, was it reality I can’t help but think of a different Queen song…. Did you have a moose Jason. 🤣

I did exactly the same thing in college.  Once was enough.

Not a stupid question, you are right about the connector. My 11" took a few iterations to get tightened up when I first got the machine (and a reverse multi-step process to get it to come back off recently), and I had to do that multi step push/screw process to get the new Coiltek on too.

I went to double check after reading this, and I was able to jam the connector on about 1/2-1mm further and get about 1/6th of a turn out of the screw afterwards. Took some real force. Not sure if that was enough to affect things though, I'll see next time I get out to the field.

Mine has zero wobble and i can no longer turn it.  Fingers crossed maybe that was it!

There must be a problem with my control box shielding then. My phone interferes with the control box even when it's off. In the field and it's my only camera so I can't show it right now, but I'll post a vid of it when I get back home and find another camera to film it with. My S20 interefered with the GPZ control box too actually.

Maybe (just a thought), your cell phone shielding is not up to snuff?  Either way, I hope you find a solution.
