New Minelab Manticore

I agree, I  have no idea as to how improved the Manti... is. However,  I  am always impressed with how well the Equinox continuously outperforms other detectors that hunt with me. Especially on trash...

I read interesting information from Tom Dankowsky on his forum

Please post a link.  Adding a synopsis/summary would be a nice touch, too.

Certainly tempting, Cal, but with a perfectly operable 600 and 800 in my "stable," it's hard to justify buying a new 900, just to use as a backup.  Decisions, decisions!

Steve

Minelab would love it if everyone replaced their 800 with a 900, ordered a Manticore and saved up enough money to buy the new CTX 4040 that's coming.  I think I will just stick with my Legend and Manticore when it arrives.  I've only got two arms to swing these toys.

Suspect he means this thread - NASA-Tom has some great insights into the machines performance

http://dankowskidetectors.com/discussions/read.php?2,185174,page=7

Note this link goes to page 7 of (currently) into 8 page thread.  But apparently earlier pages don't have too much info due to MDA?  Anyway, I read (in the following order) pages 7,8,6,5.  Tom D. makes several posts on page 7 in particular.  Here are some of the things he talks about:

1) Much improved EMI mitigation over the Equinox,

2) Details on the differences in the various beach modes,

3) A bit on the improvements of the Equinox 700 and 900 models although he emphasizes he wasn't involved (or only minimally involved) in those developments.  He does say that some of the Manticore DNA (my choice of initialism, not his) went into these new Equinox models, but apparently not close to the full Manticore performance capabilities.

There is quite a bit more reporting by him on the Manticore, but I just gave a quick taste of things that interested me.  I recommend reading starting at page 7 (Geordiedan's link above) for the details, if interested.

The site formatting gets messed up when you browse around via the navigation links (at least it does on my browser due to security controls), I recommend removing the s from https and the www. from the page address bar when you change pages, i.e. changing https://www.dankowski... to http://dankowski...

Its another example of a Detector Forum website that could use Steve H. to come over and setup a modern forum structure for them.
