Gold And A Fake?

Recommended Posts

That's a great hunt and that gold ring is sweet. I hope the fake one turns out real for you.

It is marked 14k and has a Mexican coin in the center.

Is that a gold coin?

Nice finds, regardless.

I hit the same Cartier ring in white gold.
mine only has the name and 750 no serial number and weighs basically the same.
I believe the same thing it fake cause of the weight.
my gold tester pen dried up so it’s not working

Great way to get back on the gold train Mitchell - congrats! A gold coin ring is awesome and on my bucket list. Looks like local conditions are improving.

I went to my local coin shop to see what they think of the two rings.

The 'coin' ring is actually a replica coin and rather than it all being 14k, they said it is 12k.  That's still gold but it's not as valuable as it might look at first.

The Cartier is a fake and has no value.  We know that all that glitters is not gold.

It was still a fun night and a challenge to my senses of detecting round shapes of mixed metals.  I'll do a little more research to confirm the coin assessment.

Great job and hard work on the hunt to find so many rings, but I am sure that you had fun at it.

Good luck on your next outing.
