strick
Not as much as I'd like to...still working full time so maybe 3-4 hours one day on the weekend this time of year...It really all depends on if I find a good spot....then things may change drastically once I get my priorities in order lol. strick 4
Steve Herschbach
Not enough. It goes in bursts. A half day here, a couple days there, then 10 hour days for days on end. It all adds up to several hundred hours a year. 5
deathray
I'm jealous of Jasong, lol. If I didn't have responsibilities and people that rely on me, I would live in a camper, fish and detect year around, all day, every day. 1
Sheppo
No where near enough. I wish I had more free time to get out and go prospecting but I just don’t. I’ve been for 2 decent trips this year, one 5 day trip and another 4 week trip with a couple of day trips thrown in between. 1

Having done something similar at one point, all I can say is beware making your fun into a full time thing.

VERY well said..... imo a full time gig might turn a fun hobby into a repetitious job? Even as a fun hobby for myself going out 2-3 times/wk has tendency to sometimes turn into a grind? I always look forward to the end of the season when snow flies...then come spring I'm all excited to get back out there fresh and do it again?

F350Platinum
About 10-15 hours a week in the summer, unless I go camping where I'll go as high as 30. Fall, winter and spring it can go higher.
jim tn
When I retired in 2006, I began a routine of hunting from 7a to 11a six days a week and for a couple hours on Sun after Church. Although this year my 11a hour became more like 10-10:30a with our hot summer temps, but 100 hours a month is quite close. I go into withdrawals if many hours less. Aureous
I'm what you'd term 'semi professional', I prospect for additional income so I normally spend 25 hours each and every week, rain or shine. In Spring or Autumn, this can go up to 35 hours per week, depending on the number of overnight camping trips I make each week. 2
