The Gold Guy
Hello everyone! Just curious on how you guys are protecting the screen? I was thinking maybe just like a phone screen protector just cut to size. Heavy pans!!
Steve Herschbach
Any decent stick on screen protector will work, just cut to fit. I use a pack of old Kindle screen protectors. The pack was used on my last half dozen new machines, and plenty left still. The main thing is make that first thing you do out of the box. Peel off the thin protective cover that comes on the screen with the new detector, and immediately apply your permanent one. Slip over covers can collect grit, and actually abrade the screen with use. Using a stick on cover is therefore a good idea regardless, or maybe because, you use an optional slide over cover.
timbus59
Took my Axiom out for the first time and of course got a scratch on the screen. 😕 Garrett has built such a great detector, it's too bad they dont include/make a screen protector. Kinda like buying a luxury car and finding it doesn't come with floor mats. Taking Steve's suggestion, I'm going to cut a Kindle screen protector to size. Also going to use a slip cover as the control box will probably get abuse from setting the machine on the ground/bedrock to winnow down targets in the scoop with the coil.

This cover fits the Axiom control box perfectly and is also sold on Amazon. https://slylynx.com/en/covers/сover-for-garrett-apex-metal-detector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09671GGY6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Doc
If you get a roll of contact paper. You can easily cut to size and replace as needed. I recommend using this before you put on any type of cover. As Steve has said, it you get dust or grit between a screen cover and your screen it will damage the screen. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09HYZL2HV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Ot if you want to keep your entire detector from getting scratched and banged up. You can always get one of my, Doc's Detector Cover Set for the AXIOM metal detector. $149.95 https://docsdetecting.com/product/docs-cover-for-axiom/ Doc
