Steve Herschbach
All dealers on this forum will entertain trade ins. As will most other serious dealers. What do you have, and what are you looking to trade for?
Popular Post Gerry in Idaho
10 hours ago, OhioHunter said: Just curious if any of the dealers on here take trade-in I'm pretty well known for taking trade ins of popular model used gold detectors. If someone has a worn out dog detector, I'll pass. It's hard enough for dealers trying to sell a used detector with no warranty and make a profit. I suggest to anyone wanting to trade, to do a little research to see what the average selling rate is on that particular detector, so you have a good idea of what it will sell for. Some folks look on eBay and see someone asking $3000 for a used GPX-5000 and so they assume their 5000 is worth $3000. They expect me to offer them $3000 trade. That's not going to happen. Need to look at Completed Sales to get the averages of what they SOLD for. Here is an example of how I come up with an average trade in price. If different GPX-5000 packages sells for average of $2500 on eBay, please realize the seller did not get $2500. eBay and their PayPal fees are 15%, so after subtracting $375, the seller is paid $2125. No, I'm not going to give you $2125, because that was what the Seller pocketed. Realize I'm a dealer who this is my business and if any issue comes up after the sale, the new owner expects me the dealer to take care of it. That's exactly why quite a few dealer do not offer trades. Bottom line, I will need to make a profit, so I'll be less than $2125. Some folks think the detector they purchased for $4000 and then paid another $1000 in coils and accessories = $5000, is worth a 10% hit ( $5000 - $500 = $4500), good luck. I always tell folks to try and sell their used detectors on their own 1st. I assure you, I'm not going to pay top dollar as I need to make a profit as well. But some folks don't like dealing with strangers and or some don't have eBay and PayPal account set up. It's pretty simple process for me. I get an email from you with a detailed list of what you have and some pics. I ask what you think it's worth? I make an offer and if both parties are good, then we are both happy. If you are not happy with my offer, no big deal and we go on. Hope this helps folks. Gerry 9

What do you have, and what are you looking to trade for? Well I have an Amphibio Multi in like new shape, low hours. I'm looking to trade it for the 2 new legend coils coming soon. It just hangs on the wall not getting used.
mn90403
Gerry is going to be a less 'convenient' but much better alternative to that garage sale we're all going to have one day! We all need to know when to pull the trigger on our old stuff if it is not too old to be useful already. Have you checked shipping costs lately? haha Steve doesn't let them hang around anymore.
PI-Man
Just remember when dealing with the dealer they need to make a profit just like Gerry above said. Dealers much like most of us like to eat steak at the end of the day. Hamburger is good but a steak is better and hopefully a lobster kicker from time to time. I like to see them eat well that way I know they have the strength for future deals and will be in business when I come calling.
