Popular Post mn90403
Storm after storm has hit California and I've been out in them and after them. I feel like I've lost my 'touch' and my way so it was time to venture to a couple of new/old beaches one day last week. Since I don't know my way around these areas too well I have to pay for parking. The first beach cost me $9 for 3 hours. I found next to nothing but had fun. The next beach cost me $3.50 for about an hour and a half but I just had to hit that beach before I went home. The waves were big and keeping me back a bit. I saw another detectorist coming at about 200 yards. Do I go at him or away from him? I turned away and hunted the the wave wash. There were a couple of coins to keep it interesting and then I got a 9! This is one of those very hopeful numbers for us so I dug a bit and let a wave come over my hole and then got the target out and went up the slope a bit and yes ... a nice ring in my scoop I could see with my light. It's 2.2g/14k with some stones. Not the best ring I've ever found but it was the best ring I found that day. Thanks for reading. 25

Valens Legacy
Nice ring at a great price! I am still trying to wrap my mind around having to pay to go to the beach. Was it a private or public beach. I have never heard of having to pay for them, but I guess it is a California thing.

And if there is not a parking lot from the state then all of the cities charge for parking. One of the best ways to find a good place to detect is to find a big paid parking lot! 1 1
F350Platinum
Nice ring, congrats! 👍 One of the two river beaches near me charges $2 an hour for the convenience of parking right at it, and pretty much everywhere in town it's the same. The other is county property and is free. 😀 Funny thing is I found 2 gold rings at the free one last year, and only tungstens at the paid beach. So, I try to find the tungsten ring prices online and get my solace knowing they cost the person more than I paid for parking 🤣 since I got 4 or 5 of them it added up to more. 4

rvpopeye
That other detector comin' down the beach sent you right to that nice gold ring ! WTG ! Beach parking in Maine: Paid private parking at the big beach tourist towns. BUT free after tourist season.... The state parks have a fee BUT free for senior residents.... Lakes , hit or miss finding a spot to park . Free or not A LOT of it has disappeared as old camps are replaced with McMansions that post no trespassing signs... Ask an "old local" for the best bet for free spots, BUT they might not tell ya Chummy ! 🥸 A boat gets you to almost any beach though......yup yup . Parking at Maine Boat Ramps: to be continued LOL🤪

The county and city have senior parking for $20 a year. You can find free parking at many of the beaches if you are willing to walk, go late or go early. Some parking lots close at sunset. Others at different times but very few let you stay overnight unless you go to a camping beach.
