I agree with JCR that the condition is remarkable.  How did you clean it up?  Any info on its origin/purpose?  Yes, I know what a St. Christopher medal is (long ago carried one myself...) but I'm wondering if this was military from WWII, something a family member would send to a young military man, for example.  (Just WAGging here.)

Judging from the look of the plane, ship, and car on the badge, I would say definitely 1940s and probably post WWII. After the end of the war, people began travelling much more and St. Christopher's medals and badges were very common among catholic families. I have one from the same period my grandmother gave me from their old car when I went off to college.

That one is in great shape, excellent find, kac!
