Rick N. MI
Yes I keep those including iron ones. They polished up nice.
Zincoln
Definitely not the only one. I keep the ornate and interesting items, and scrap the rest. Bunch of barrel taps that i find really interesting. I start with acid magic, then on to a wire wheel on the grinder or the dremel.

rvpopeye
That junk sure looks nice ! Polishing them up on a rainy day sounds like fun ! Putting old found items back into regular use is very satisfying to me. I surface found an ornate brass drawer pull that I'm putting on one of the drawers in the RV . Might have to polish 'er up now....

CPT_GhostLight
Those are beautiful pieces, Bootscrape and yours too, Zincoln. Thanks for showing those. Like most relic hunters, I have bags and boxes of such items that I've never tried to clean, mostly for fear of damaging them. Now I want to learn more about how to safely clean these types of finds.
Zincoln
Not trying to abscond with your post Bootscrape. Tell me to start my own if you'd prefer. Here are the spigots (some polished, some not - really like the ornate one with the valve still there) which may be water, fuel and/or gas, a brass minie ball enfield mold, and a nice Hubley cast car found at a house in the the high Oregon desert (very dry and sandy). Car is a about 8" long for reference. 5
Rick N. MI
The old toy car is great! Nice finds.
Bootscrape
Like Zincoln I give them a good soak and just wire buff them with a bench grinder or Dremmel tool. Sometimes I’ll use a metal polish on more fancy bits, but that can take away some of the character of the piece also. Thanks for posting those nice pics Zincoln, and no, you’re all welcome to add more. I love seeing old retrieved artifacts. Cheers.
