I'm new to detecting and just purchased a Makro Gold Racer.  No gold yet...but I'm trying. Anyone have any experience with a Gold Racer? I'm thinking I should have spent the extra bucks and went with the Garrett ATX...

The ATX and Gold Racer would actually make a good pair in many different conditions and situations.

Check out what gold has been found with a Minelab GPX 4500 compared to a Garrett ATX you may change your mind very quickly to a Minelab GPX.      Happy Hunting!

Well...I'll be happy to report...I just bought a 4500...I wish it was spring instead of fall. You know, detecting is a bad habit: now I want an SDC 2300...but I'll learn the 4500 and be happy...for now :-)

I don't own either one, but there are a LOTS more 4500s out there than there are ATXs. Thats not a fair comparison, even tho the  4500 is probably a better detector.

The shop I bought the GPX 4500 from promised I'd be happier with the GPX (compared to an ATX). So, I trusted their advice...SDC out of my price range...but heck...they ALL are. Thks

So Bigsky, will you be selling your Gold Racer then? I'd like to have one for  a bargain price if I can use it to coin hunt also? Otherwise, may need to find me a used Racer 2.
