Makro Gold Racer Reviews

Recommended Posts

You will love the 4500! Excellent gold machine. The Gold Racer is a good VLF for gold but like all VLFs it is best used as a specialised tool to hunt trashy areas where a PI struggles ( read: you get tired of digging trash and need some discrimination) or for crumbing in the shallow bed rock crevasse's for tiny gold that a PI won't see. Good combo. I really like the new Evo coils on my 4500. The 14x9 is very sensitive and gives good coverage while the 12" round is a bit deeper and easy to swing. Good luck! I think you made a great decision!!!

Dean,

Thanks Dean.  I'm new to this and can say it's somewhat addictive - even though I haven't found much. I guess it's all in "the hunt". Plus, it's good exercise for a 60 year old. Whenever I recover from buying these detectors, I'm looking forward to a Nevada trip - A break from Montana.

Bigsky,

Most of us on this forum would agree you made a good decision. The Makro Gold is a very capable machine just takes time and you need to get the coil over gold. That's about it, all of us have started with a vlf and found good gold...mine was a Whites GM2..yours is more advanced and has a lot more going for it than the older models.  After a a year or maybe few years, you may want to add a Minelab to get more depth and stability in those heavy mineralized areas..good luck, and good hunting.

Well...I'll be happy to report...I just bought a 4500...I wish it was spring instead of fall. You know, detecting is a bad habit: now I want an SDC 2300...but I'll learn the 4500 and be happy...for now :-)

The shop I bought the GPX 4500 from promised I'd be happier with the GPX (compared to an ATX). So, I trusted their advice...SDC out of my price range...but heck...they ALL are. Thks

Check out what gold has been found with a Minelab GPX 4500 compared to a Garrett ATX you may change your mind very quickly to a Minelab GPX.      Happy Hunting!
