Is there a "easy" way to move my google earth account from my old computer to my new computer.  I would like to keep the waypoints I have...just because I like them...

Fred

on my Mac, when I migrated all my hard drive info. onto my new computer,

Google earth and all my info, came over intact. Do you have a back up drive of your main

hard drive? If so, you should be able to do the same… good luck.

Fred you could plug a USB drive in your old computer then go open up GE, go up to file and you should see all of you KZM files, then copy those to your USB Drive and copy then to your new PC.

Fred, also select all your waypoints (checkbox), then select file in upper left hand corner, then save as.

Google Maps lets you login on multiple devices.  I put in points and pins on my phone and I could see them in real time here on my laptop computer because I was signed in to the same account.  (Your points would be 'saved in the cloud' so to speak.)

I'm not 100% certain that GE works the same way because I have had one  hard drive crash and when I got on GE with the other computer many of my finds were not saved.  I'll have to look at a backup and do as Swegin and Steve have suggested.

Many people have done it Fred and as long as your old computer is working you won't lose the data.

Mitchel

Thinking of downloading the Gaia GPS App to my iPhone.  Wondering if anyone has experience with this App?  Thanks for any input.

Hello, I am using an iPad as a topo map when I’m out in the field, and also GoogleEarth, and have already downloaded the BLM’s active and inactive gold mine and prospects KML database for Google Earth and was wondering if anyone has found a good source for downloading BLM and/or National Forest KML files? I only seem to have found some local ones for Alaska on the BLM map server website, but nothing for any of the lower Western states. Thanks!

This looks interesting. An app for Android devices for tracking your detecting and recording finds. The possibilities for prospecting are really huge.
Here's a post regarding the app.
Link deleted since Findmall update broke all old links
Here's a link to the Android Play Store for the app.

The IOS version is a Kickstarter Project and I went ahead and pledged $5 hoping he gets it done - cause I don't have an Android phone.

I use to mine in No. CA in the 80s & 90s and used topographical maps back then with lots of details , fire & logging road etc.
Any suggestions , I would like to check display & available details ?

This is pretty neat stuff, and I think the applications for prospectors and relic hunters are obvious...

The other day I pulled up Google Earth as usual but now the navigation and zoom controls and the tool bar icons are very tiny. And now my placemark labels are larger than normal. I cannot figure out how to reset it back.
      Has anyone else experienced this?
