I once had an opportunity to detect in an active mining cut at a commercial mine. I did not get to keep any of the gold but had a blast digging big nuggets up left and right. It's fabulous when you know every beep is going to be gold!

The largest nugget was over 2 ounces. I may have the opportunity to work it again next year.

Nice gold.  Can you say whether it was scrape and detect, or straight undistributed ground detecting.  Either way I think it is just freak'n amazing.
