Ran into Winnemucca today for a grocery stockup and to get a second trailer tire patched (slow leak, blasted Jungo road).

Noticed that Doc has diversified a bit...(grin) :arrowheadsmiley:

Lol...  Wouldn't be surprised if he named it "Claimjumper Cafe..."   Now there is a story behind that title that I suggested years ago, for a new line of products he would soon offer....

I feel your pain, DolanDave!

I was in a Winnemucca tire shop one day, getting a rock punctured tire fixed from a trip out on Jungo Road.  In the tire shop there was a rancher who's ranch was located somewhere way over to the west, on the Nevada/California border...   Too long a way apparently, for the less than great stock tires the rancher had on his dandy new truck when he bought it.  He was steamed and loudly verbal, complaining rightly so, about the poor tires that came on the truck, and was having every tire on his new rig replaced, plus having a couple spares upgraded as well, which is a must on the Nevada Outback roads, as you have found...  I try to carry extra spares for my truck and trailers just in case.  Heck I even got a bent rim and a flat right in Winnemucca as I turned a corner pulling my little Casita trailer, where there was some weird drain or something that the trailer wheel dropped into, doing the damage.  More expense and time wasted...

Yep that s is ridiculous.... I've blown more tires in three days (3 counting today's) than I have my entire life... the cost benefit analysis of prospecting around here is quickly going negative. Shredded a truck tire today on the frontage road between Imlay and Mill City. Had spent the day up above bikini tree and out at Rye Patch testing this new update to the 7k (didn't fix a thing in my particular issues) so must have sliced it and as soon as it saw pavement speed, kabooooooom. I was going to purchase all new tires for the truck next big city but at this rate, I won't have to wait!!!!

Definetly the most expensive (non Australian) prospecting trip of my life!!!

Be it coffee, food, booze, merchandise or mechanical trouble........mining the miners hasn't gone out of style.

I still think the way to mine the miners in this town is to own a Les Shwab tire dealership.

HI Jennifer, I live in the next town E of Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, and often shop at Walmart for groceries, so I'm wondering where Doc's is located because it looks like a good place to refresh before heading back.

I remember when I took Jerry's detecting class at Rye Patch a few years ago, he got 2 flats coming and going and I noticed that he drove like hell. I do a lot of back road driving out here and because I slow way down on coarse gravel or bad roads, I rarely get a flat So, slow to save the tires.
