Steve Herschbach
I ground balance at the sensitivity setting I will be using. I think doing otherwise may result in an inaccurate ground balance setting.
Tom Slick
I'm with Steve on that one. When I GB, I always want the detector looking at the same amount of soil it will be looking at when I'm detecting.
dewcon4414
You can test that easy enough in your location just by doing both and see what you get. Id be surprised if youd get an accurate GB with the sensitivity that low.....i mean you may be reading 2 gal of soil compared to 7 or more properly set. BUT ya know ive been doing this a while and ive seen all kind of settings...... i dont try to change anyones minds out there especially if it benefits my hunting lol.

dewcon4414
Fred .... ive been asked on the beach to help with settings from people....... and before i walk away they go right back to what they were using. I just chuckle and do my thing. I have one guy that was a snow bird and came down for 3 or 4 months every year for at least 4 years....... used an Xcal with a huge WOT coil......... then switched to a CTX with the huge coil. In 4 years he never found a piece of gold. But asked every year what my settings were.
