Jim_Alaska
Just be aware of your surroundings. Don't stick your hands in places you can't see into. Other than that, have fun.
beatup
During the winter down south the snakes arn't a real problem but you can get scorpions under rocks and in cracks where you are digging, like Jim said just be aware.
fredmason
Yes, be afraid, very afraid....just teasing! Snakes may not be in their dens in Oct or Nov; most Western Rattlesnakes are very small and very difficult to see. Scorpions are common but mostly semi-harmless, unless you are allergic... Tarantulas are big, harry and harmless...unless you handle them in a wrong manner... Good luck and have fun fred
Gravelwasher
Snake chaps always make me feel more comfortable, better safe than sorry. Never been struck but had a close call or two, at least our poisonous snakes can rattle, vs a nasty brown or mamba..lol
