If you were a Full Line Dealer with one to show and one to go then you would be stocking 38 detectors.  Taking the Gemini out of the mix puts it at 36.  And then maybe some models are Distributor specific and possibly Big Box only models.

But working a sales counter it's much more efficient to have a Good, Better, and Best scheme with clear differentiation between those tiers.  Training sales people on the minor differences between a dozen or so similar models near the same street price point and feature set, would not be the best use of time.  If the dealership also carries Tek and B&H then even more muddying of a purchase decision is thrown in.

Perhaps working a sales floor while living off of a Commission and Spiffs would provide some important training when it comes to laying out a product line.

I am always on a hunt for a new and better machine. After seeing that lineup, I can cross Fisher off of the list. I agree with LowTide on having a more easily understandable line up. If I didn't know better, I would think this product line was right from the 1990's. I'm not up on Fisher detectors, (I always felt they could not handle EMI at all), but for those of you who do follow Fisher, a question for you: Is there anything there that is new? Seems like they are pushing the  same stuff, just slightly redesigned.  I was hoping for a pulse discrimination in that line up, that gets unreal depth and no interference ……….

Hi,

The Fisher latest version of the Gold Bug Pro and the F19 are the only semi-modern detectors in their line-up. They are very good detectors, are not very prone to EMI depending on the coil (the 11" DD can get noisy) and are only lacking two important features in my opinion: built in wireless headphone operation and full waterproofing. Also, they are being sold new for less than $500 by many US dealers not the ridiculous price in the catalog.

If you look at Fisher and another detector First Texas makes without a name on them you can’t tell them apart .

I’ve never owned a F series detector and I believe that it’s a great machine but on looks they all look like a relic .

I guess this is another that hasn’t stepped into the 21st Century in more ways than one.

They need to drop the F off for Fisher and put the F up that stands for First Texas. Then step into future with a new line and not the whole train .

I'm still kind of in disbelief that this is their current lineup's answer to Minelab, Deus, etc...  Wasn't it Fisher that was going to have a breakthrough detector coming soon? Or was it someone else? I think the list prices are making me shake my head too. Not sure what their strategy is. Maybe they know what their market can return for them. Time will tell I guess.

Tough crowd!

Since it was mentioned I went ahead and added the latest internet prices for reference since MSRP really is a joke. Fisher would do well to drop the MSRP prices on the their website at least since a casual observer might be put off. The internet prices are more or less accurate as of today but if reading this in the future do double check pricing as I can’t keep up with the changes.

I upgraded the photos and reformatted it all for smaller screens. I also added links to the new Metal Detector Database entries for each model. These are the most popular Fisher models. I left out utility and oddball specialty models.

Thanks Steve for your trouble!

The odd thing is some of the lower end detectors face and controls look better than their high end ones . I still say they need to remove that doorknob off the 75’s. It’s too bad I can’t do as I do on my phone and that’s spread my fingers out to make it more readable. It’s just too much info that stays on the screen all the time.

Phrunt

I think it’s like you said 2018 is a wake up call for a lot of detector companies. The trouble being if your product is not selling and no money coming in you could be another lost .

I’d like to see all detector companies healthy . It’s good for them and us the buyer .
