Looks to be a good directory to know about, if you ever need help finding something.  I see that Makro is one of the two sponsors.  Out of curiosity, I looked at some of the listings.  The few I checked charged a small starting fee ($25 or so) plus a negotiated finder's fee paid only if the item was found. It would be interesting to know the overall success rate.

Might make an interesting sideline to the hobby for someone who has the time.  Even if most jobs don't pay much, you probably meet a few interesting people.

Ages ago it use to be a free service from listed participants.  The public needs to be educated that you can contact any local metal detecting club and get multiple people to help you find something for free.  Just my two cents worth.  GaryC/Oregon Coast

I belong to LostMyStuff.Net  there is no charge for looking or finding items. Members pay a small fee each year to belong, as for myself I have a 100 mile limit that I will travel to look for items.  I said look because some times it's not where they think they lost it.

Might join something like that when I retire.   Right now time is so sort that its all about me when I get out with a detector.

I tell people that  if they really care about their jewelry item have it engraved with some sort of identification that will help it get back to them if they lose it.   If not, and they lose it,  a pirate like me will find it.   Arrrg!  

I have found lost items for friends when they ask.

I've been a member of the Ringfinders for about 7 years.  Get a call for lost "Bling" about once every month or so.  I've never charged anyone a cent whether or not I find the lost item.  I just tell them to "Pay it forward" if they get a chance.  It's been a lot of fun, especially if you find the lost item which is about 50% of the time.  Over the years I've had 4 calls from women who threw their rings out the window of moving cars after arguments with their Spouses.  Was lucky to find one of them.  Makes me wonder how many other rings are out there besides our roads thru out the U.S. Being a member of Ringfinders has also opened the doors to other metal detecting opportunities as some people will give you permission to further hunt their properties.
