Popular Post foreverteachable
It was great to dig in the dirt today with my nephews and my brother-in-law who are visiting from Australia.
fredmason
wtg! That is cold, reminds me of my Portola, Calif days...we would get so bored in the winter that we would go detecting under the trees where the snow was less... fred

foreverteachable
I hear you there Fred the wind was blowing something fierce 2 right off of the lake. The kids are a little older this time so they were a little tougher and could handle it which was nice. We also had a recent warming spelling and some rain so the ground thawed up a bit.

Gerry in Idaho
Those smiles on the kids faces say it all. They'll remember the trip forever. Hopefully in a good way and not the "We Aussie boys came to US to visit and Uncle takes us out in frozen dead of winter and tries to find a penny". Either way... I think it is cool you are sharing the love of this hobby with a couple kids. Who knows, it might grow on them and they go back down-under and become detector experts.
foreverteachable
Awesome picture Gary and thanks for your insight. I don't have kids of my own, it didn't work out for my wife and I but when the kids come over I try to do something cool with them and sometimes even a bit reckless, like pushing down dead trees in the woods or lighting fireworks with them. I never think of it as a big thing, more or less giving the parents a break for a while, but the kids do remember it. Have a merry Christmas.
