You Aussies are the best!! I love my country, but its become too p.c. and get in touch with your feelings.

Mate I've Learned To Laugh at myself First before I laugh at Others, The Troubles I have had with Animals and Nature and I think I have been through it all or met folks that have,

If someone Has Told A Joke about some A funny situation, I would have to put up my hand up Because they could be Talking about me,

Like This for Instance,, Being A Shy Bushy And having never been to A Big City, At The Age of 17 I went To Brisbane one Day and I had Ran out of Smokes So Into the News Agents I went, And while I was waiting to get Served The Sheila In front of me Asked the woman at the Counter For A Roll Of Durex, Well My Face went as Red as A Baboons Backside and I'm thinking %$#@ These things Come On A Roll, I just looked at her and Said Geeze your A shy Girl Aye and Shot out the Door,

I Caught up with my Mate and he Told me That Durex Is A Brand of Sticky Tape In OZ, and she was Not Asking for a Roll of Gentleman's Accessories as I Thought

Not my Finest hour, Aye

P.C is sweeping our country to deahray, wish it was as easy as putting on snake gators to protect from its bite. Deadlier than a mating taipan on Viagra that's for sure.

From what I see the US version of English and the OZ version, over the years both of us seem to have altered English a fair bit. I imagine a Englishman having a 3 way yack with a US and a OZ, would be totally lost. Even travelling OZ, I`ve found those from North OZ have altered English more than those from South OZ. We`ve all put a bit of colour in the language made it user friendly.

The way I see it is with proper English they will use a lot of long words in a sentence and in The US use's a lot of words but don't drag it out like the English and with Aussies we tend to shorten everything to the point of being blunt and it more often than not gets taken the wrong way as we do not mean to be short with People, It just gets the point over quicker but for those who are not use to it sounds like we are being Rude,

So if one day I happen to say something that sounds a bit off just think about it from 2 angles and somewhere in between is what I mean,

hope this helps, http://www.australianexplorer.com/slang/phrases.htm

Yeah, think you`ve nailed it John, we shorten things cause we weren't "learnt" properly, bugger school fishings better. :) This forum is a first contact with you US folks for me, but your not really alien, :)  sort of same but different, gold lessens any perceived boundaries. I think we`d all have a ball round a campfire with plenty of liquid to ensure that no one goes thirsty. But as for John if I say something a bit off, it is not meant to be so.
