First Silver With The Orx

Recommended Posts

It came out in the first shovel full of dirt so I cannot say how deep it was for sure. I don’t recall the reading while it was in the ground but it read as 85 in the spoil dirt.

I was using coin deep at 28.8 kHz with the reactivity set to 2. I was using this setting because I was looking for military buttons.

Very nice find! Nothing like the glint of silver. Just a curious question here, what was the craze with drilling holes in good silver coins all about? Did people wear them around as jewelry or something?

I'm still waiting to find a silver coin, ANY silver coin!

Holed coins often worn as good luck charms, some coins with square nail holes (mostly coppers) were nailed to front doors or gates also for good luck.

Congrats on the lovely coin.

Nice find indeed.  Those aren’t pulled everyday with detector.

That is so true but my brother dug three in about an hour earlier this year.  He is the luckiest at finding half dimes!
