  1. Not sure where this belongs, but I felt like posting it today. Yesterday, someone who I follow on YouTube (a football/soccer fan) was having a very bad day. One of his dogs, who often features in his video chats, had been diagnosed with cancer and he was understandably devastated. Looking at the supportive comments from the other regulars on his channel, it was heart warming to see the support for a "friend" from such a small, but close community. Visiting this board is also like that. The sense of comradeship between people who genuinely love what they do is very inspiring. I'm glad I found this little community and I would like to thank Steve and everyone else who contributes. That's all really. Have a good day everyone.

  2. Sometimes a video is all you need. I know this video may seem long and many of you will not want to watch a 16 minute video. But this is one you WILL want to watch. (Sorry, it is not all gold nuggets but hopefully you will forgive me) Watch in full screen for the full effect! Enjoy!! I know I sure did!!

  3. Hello all...as we are getting many emails and messages inquiring about the Racer, we would like to give you a little bit more info. The device has 2 versions - Racer and Gold Racer. Racer is the coin & relic device and the Gold Racer is the prospecting one as the name implies. Racer will be launched first and Gold Racer will follow a few months after that. Racer runs on 14KHz. Gold version - waiting for the final testing stage. We will be visiting USA next week to meet our distributors and upon our return we are planning to launch the product. So we are expecting to start shipments early February if all goes smooth. Should there be any changes, I will definitely inform you. Thank you everybody! 4. There are few highs as intense as seeing big gold come out of the ground. I have done the nugget thing but am still waiting to see that gold coin pop out of the ground. That video is just great on so many levels, not least in being motivational. Just time to get out and do it. Thanks for having the presence of mind to do these videos. I keep thinking about it but once I am on a hunt I get so intent on what I am doing I just have not got around to it yet. Chris and I shot a lot of video with JP while in Australia and it is a lot of work not only to record but then to edit. So again, thanks. I really enjoyed that. And congratulations to Mark and Andrew!

  7. There is a ton of learned information to learn on all the Prospecting Forums! You need to be in a gold zone and research is important to have your coil over gold bearing ground. Your equipment/metal detector needs to be researched and it's easy to find out which metal detector is the hottest for gold on all the prospecting forums. Each detector is a tool in the tool box. My GPX is my Varsity Star, it has found Sunbakers to nuggets close to two feet deep...everyone knows what these units can do. My GoldBug2, is a blast and if the ground is mild with plenty of small gold it's deadly. It will find gold that the GPX wouldn't think about wasting it's time to beep on and has filled countless poke bottles with it. My new SDC 2300, runs in hot ground that my GoldBug2 doesn't operated to it fullest. Plus, it finds the stealth nuggets that my GPX can't hear. A slow stealing swing is important with all detectors! Like the song says "These are a few of my Favorite Things". Until the next hunt LuckyLundy

  8. Mike posted exactly what I wasnt going to say. Lately Ive been detecting with an old timer who is one of the most succesful hunters in my area. He doesnt use the latest/greatest, but he knows his gp extreme, gmt's and 5900 like the back of his hand. But what seperates him from many others is his confidence! He truly believes, if there is any gold in the area,(or coins/relics) then he WILL find it. Also his enthusiasm. Dude has been detecting for over 40 years, and he is still like a kid. One last thing that Im not sure has been mentioned yet, too be succesful for gold at least, health matters. Try to stay in shape. At least here in California, the canyons that we hike can be real a$$kickers. Ray

  9. I have a GMT and an AT Gold. I love the GMT for sensitivity and ease of operation, but I find the AT Gold outshines it in very trashy areas. The area that I mostly hunt in has a ton of brass shells and bullet frags, along with plenty of square nails, tin foil and various other pieces of trash. The variable discrimination, iron audio and visual ID on the Garrett just makes it easier to decide what to dig and what not to dig. When I bought the AT Gold I had narrowed my options to either it, or the Gold Bug Pro. It was a tough decision between the two as they both seem to have very similar features and plenty of great reviews. At the end of the day I decided the Garrett made a slightly less annoying noise than the GB Pro! The headphone socket on the AT is an annoyance, but there is an available adapter to convert to 1/4" jack (if you don't mind spending an extra $40).

  10. This will be an interesting year for new detectors but I'm holding out for the Saturn 8000 (it has rings instead of beeps) Let's see if that doesn't start some rumors!

  11. I have been in sales and marketing my whole life and the stuff the metal detector manufacturers do just baffles the heck out of me at times.
