  1. A nice woodland hunt video where I found 6 nice coins with the oldest dating back to 1908. Along with the coins I found a couple of bullets, rifle casings, toy guns and a few other bits and bobs. The metal detecting dig was done with my Minelab X-Terra metal detector which I've been using the last couple of months and the Minelab X-Terra hasn't let me down yet. There is a photo of the coins at the end of the video showing more detail and I'll be back out with the xterra 705 soon.

  3. G'day Gold Hound, The reliability of Honda motor bikes is phenomenal! And it would be the reliability, more than anything else, that has made the Honda Club the biggest selling bike in history. I just hope that is not going to change now Honda is manufacturing in China. There have been many times I could have done with the few extra HP of a 150cc bike. But the extra weight of a conventional trail bike is not worth the extra HP for me, personally. And conventional trail bikes sit too high for me to be comfortable when navigating tight and tricky terrain. Might be OK if I was over 6 foot tall ... but I'm not. Its too far to fall when sitting high. I've come off a few times and the only injury has ever been bruising. The step-through aspect of the CT110 makes it much easier to stay upright in tight spots. And being clutch-less is really handy. When I was in the Palmer river area (Queensland) in the 1980s one of the guys with us had a small monkey bike. But it was not particularly useful because it was so small. I first learnt of postie bikes in Queensland when a Queensland farmer recommended them to me. He had used one when he had a plantation in PNG and had found that they would get through mud better than anything else, and if they did get stuck they were light enough to be lifted out more easily than a lager trail bike. Regards, Rob (RKC)

  4. I am Very Excited as well about the MX Sport.. MXT being my all time favorite Whites unit..And I might add never had a Failure with one since release.. I cant say that about too many units Ive owned.. I too would like to know how the tone break works in Relic Mode especially...I like the MXT's ability to break on a nail by user defined setting.. I hope its not segmented.. BUT I may ADD... As of late the things I have needed in a detector such as 19+Khz Freq and precise variable tone break have came from a few machines that dont allow that and also the machine were on a lower than 19Khz freq. Those being the CoRe and Racer...14 and 15Khz units with factory set tone break for iron. Another being the MX5 from whites....14Khz unit and factory set tone break. Those units as example I could not set the tone break any better on my own...Yet their break is well above the nail setting..YET they unmask unbelievably well in iron for seeing non ferrous targtes intermingled with Ferrous targets.....Plus the Core and Racer are of such high gain they are as or more sensitive than a 19Khz unit. The MX5 was not of high gain ...or should I say Hyper gain feel. I hope the MX Sports DNA is of the Hyper feel of the MXT in relic mode. So while I would like a user defined tone break...if its indeed using the MX5 Disc DNA ..We may very well have us another turn on and go iron site unlocker .. Thast seems to be the Beauty of the latest offerings...WORLD CLASS performance in iron infested sites with no more than switching on and Ground grabbing... It I feel through PURE processing power...Bleedy filters blendy audios and such coupled with extremely fast algorithm's that a analog unit can not accomplish or for that fact a unit of a few years old cant accomplish... Never thought I would see the day when I could basically turn on a unit and just hunt without tweaking my settings for the first few minutes to get dialed into a site... I could feel it in the MX5 yet all the goodies were not in place..almost like a feeler unit to get on the market to try some ideas.. I have a Gut feeling the MX Sport will not let us down..Will not disappoint.. I hope its a True Whites in longevity also like the units it follows Rugged,Reliable,Dependable. Exciting Times!! Keith

  6. East Texas Chris The roads are much worse in the Canadian Provinces than when you actually get into Alaska. It is much better to follow someone, and pay close attention to how their vehicle handles the bumps, swerves, brake lights or any other clues you can observe. They usually place a small red flag on the side of the road that has damage. That does not hold water in all cases. Sometimes they have made repairs and leave the flags, or a bad place with no flags. I personally would not drive at night just because of the road conditions. Just take your time and enjoy the trip. Take Klunker with you. Might be some gold left in California for the rest of us. lol Norm McQ

  9. They can just stop making metal detectors today and I am well covered. The main thing that will make more finds for me is more time spent detecting, not more detectors. But Santa Steve just loves new toys!

  10. Yup, I know that guy, and he is absolutely right! The key part being "if you find gold in an area". If faced with a mile of new area littered with nails, just where is the gold at? Rather than start at one end with a PI digging nails for eternity, a VLF may serve as a recon tool to maybe, if a person gets lucky, find an indicator nugget or two. Then, with the location narrowed down, bring in the PI and dig everything. I know you know that. Every place and location calls for a different strategy. Dig it all is a great theory but other realities intrude. The main being how much junk there is and how much time is available to deal with it. There are no doubt many places PI users have been avoiding for the sheer amount of junk. Old campsites in particular. We have all seen them and walked away from them when toting a PI. A good VLF could really pay off in such locations. As Ron's videos proved. http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/292-minelab-ctx-3030-finds-25-ounce-gold-nugget/ But once a given location proves to have gold, yeah - dig it all!
