  1. I wanted to clarify this, in case people are thinking x coil is not welcome here, due to some x coil related members leaving the forum. I support anyone or anything that legitimately extends our metal detecting capabilities. I applaud x coils efforts. What I did not like was the fact that you have to take a perfectly good coil, and use it to create an adapter. The process is not simple, and if done incorrectly can fry a GPZ 7000. The repair will cost thousands of dollars, and that is not an exaggeration. Further, there appears to be nobody who will make these for people, and warranty that if the work blows up the detector, that they will insure those costs. In others words “do this at your own risk.” Seems simple to me. No drama, just “do this at your own risk.” The knowledge of that risk was suppressed, and people who expressed concern were attacked and ridiculed. ANY mention of the risk was met with swift damage control that attempted to shout down the offending party. THAT is what I objected to. I’m a pragmatic facts based guy. I could care less about the adapter. I do care that it is something that should be a disclaimer on any “oh these are the greatest thing since sliced bread” coming from parties who received many thousands of dollars in free product. And I mean seriously, who actually buys x coils? Because from this dumb Alaskans perspective, nearly everyone reporting on x coils is sporting free coils. Are there people out there that have to buy your x coils? I’d like to know who those people are, and hear what they have to say. Even then, I’m surprised how little you can trust even reports from purchasers. I was under the impression from several people that the QED was a pretty good product. Now, the ex-dealer is revealing that they are in fact a crap shoot, with very poor reliability, and poor physical construction. The truth now seems 100% the opposite of what I was being told by people, including people who berate others for concealing things. I gave QED quite a bit of positive coverage here that I now regret, because the so-called honest reporting of purchasing owners turns out to be quite suspect. When people buy junk, they prefer to quietly move it along with little fuss. In the meantime, the rest of us are not getting a clear picture of the truth. The same thing was going on with the Impulse AQ testing. Parties experiencing issues are protective of the developers, kind of a Stockholm Syndrome thing, where you protect your abuser. Because, you know, maybe the next thing they do will be good, and would not want to get shut out of that! So relevant facts about issues that might be perceived as problematic are suppressed or hidden. I bailed out of the project over that. Anyway, back to X Coil. I just want to let people know discussion of them is welcome. What is not welcome is berating people for being concerned over the adapter. That should simply be the default position for wise people. “Do this at your own risk.” Concerned care, not panic. Second, since free coils rained down like crazy, it would be nice if reporters clearly identify themselves as people getting free gear. I’m serious. I’m truly an outside observer to all this nonsense, and there appear to be almost no people who report on x coil, that do not have at least one free x coil. So that’s my question. Is there anyone out there that is just a person that bought these, and made or paid someone to make an adapter? A straight up no question purchasing end user? If so, I’d sure like to hear from you!! If you have free coils, love to hear from you also, but please let us know the whole picture. And to mention one last time. Never did, still do not have any issue with x coil discussion. It’s ok to great product, exploring new ideas, and I thank them for that. It was all the skullduggery and drama that bothered me. I’d welcome sane discussion of the product, and if they ever make a coil for a GPX 6000, I’d be interested. https://www.x-coils.com

  2. I am sorry to report to all of you that I have been expecting this diagnosis for quite some time. All of my doctors gave me hope, they all concluded that because of my age it couldn't be ALS, had to be something else. My family has a long history with Familial ALS, I have lost five cousins, an uncle, my father, brother and sister to this disease. I have lived a long happy successful life and am ok with what is in store for me. As far as keeping my mind active, I have a group of friends that get together at my house for "Bridge" once a week. I try to live everyday to the fullest and not dwell on the negatives. I have a very large support group and my children live in my town with grandchildren close by. All of my forum friends mean a lot to me as well, thank you for all of the kind words and prayers. Norm

  3. Had a couple hours while my wife was shopping today, so went to a sports field to hunt for jewelry. Glad I did, early in the hunt got a solid 15 on the Equinox at about 6". Texas turf is getting pretty hard packed by this time of year, so digging was tough, especially working to leave the field the way I found it. Out popped 14k class ring. I was happy to see a name on the inside, and with a little research located the owner. Unfortunately, since passed away, but I will try to reach out to the family to return it. My first gold of the year, and my first class ring. Separate signals on opposite ends of the field, I got similar 12-13 signals, and pulled silver from each... first the chunky chain marked .925, then the child sterling cross. Also a pocket full of clad including a Martin Van Buren $1 Coin. All in all, a good day. ~Tim

  4. Well after a long frustrating wait for Nokta's multi frequency machine, I could no longer wait or hold out. I received my new equinox 800 on the 19th and did some air tests and made a list of the VDI's and played with flipping the tones for my liking. After thinking the machine was just OK with some of my basic testing, It was time to run across the street to give it a run. I will tell you all that I have hunted this area to death with my MK. ( or so I thought) I only had 90 minutes to give its first test. I decided to dig every target with an 18 or higher VDI. Just trying to decifer my new sounds. First 5 min. netted some clad, but the next 85 broke all my records. first 3 coins after the clad were large cents, the next was a draped bust 1/2 cent (bucket 1) The next was a paper thin copper with a shield, could it be? Yes it was a New Jersey copper. I have been chasing this coin for years (bucket 2). Then a single button and an Israeli 1/2 shekel (not sure how that got there). I only had a few minutes left to hunt when I got a faint 18 on the nox and hit a button at 10 inches, But that wasn't all this hole had to give. It was like a button slot machine, 12 in all and total of 15 inches down. My wonderful wife called and I had to leave for dinner. I have to say the most impressive feature on the nox is the noise cancel, It made the site come back to life. As for settings, Park 1, sensitivity 17, and custom tone breaks and t1 - 1 t2- 25 t3 - 15 t4 - 10 t5 - 5 Tone sounds, I run them to get low tones on copper targets. Sounds odd I know, but it works for me. Have to say I'm impressed with the first 90 minutes I've run the 800.

  5. Went out Thursday for a beach hunt at the usual place. It was a very busy week, and I was looking forward to some stress release, hopefully digging for some remaining silver. Kind of a random in how I was going to run my day, but I new I wanted to dig some large iron to see if it hid anything great. Just a couple of silvers for the effort and the usual clad with a couple of exceptions. I did get a nice gold wedding band with the initials of both people in it and a 52 (I am assuming the year they got married). What was odd though was the only other inscription on the ring, which was P11. I am thinking it stands for 11 Karat plum gold. That would be an odd Karat value. I had to wander around a bit more than usual and now the silver just trickles in. No heavy concentrations that I can see. I am going to try and get out Monday and do a long flat exposed beach if I can. Wrap that GPX nice and tight in heavy plastic and see if I can get some deep clad. It gives me a chance to try out my new scoop some more. I think I have only used it twice since I bought it. This is a fairly clean beach, so it is going to be a real test for the GPX. If I can score a lot of targets, then I know there is still a lot out there on those types of beaches. We will see. Hope the weather holds up and does not get too warm out there…. I like solitude 🙂

  6. What the x coil saga taught me is this is my forum, for me, and my friends. There are competing narratives. My narrative is I had a great little place going here with the locals. Then war erupted on the Aussie forums. Various Aussies and Kiwis showed up here, and a couple decided they make the rules. The same Aussies and Kiwis that bicker and drag down the Aussie forums did it here also. Most of my locals went silent. As evidence I offer the posts by the banned parties on other forums since they left here. The drama continues, only the venue changes. So, my perspective as forum owner is I’m the one that got crapped on. People came here, brought their BS with them, and took a dump in my living room. I’ve told you all, This Is My Home! Act like you are in my home. Ok, we had a fight. Some are right, some are wrong. But only one fact is indisputable. This is my forum, for me and my friends, people who have my back. Anyone not in that camp just leave. Please. Are you all just aholes here to annoy me, or what? Let’s just have a good old fashioned here is the door folks, don’t let it hit you in the butt moment. Everyone has been able to watch the saga, and if my post starting this thread is not something you generally agree with, anyone that is not my friend on this... just leave. I’d rather it just be klunker and I. Thanks.

  7. This where I stand on X coil, Steve you have made a claim here I believe, no sorry to disagree, I know is incorrect I say know because I`ve made 2 and thus have experienced the DIY part of making the cable. If you are competent with a soldering iron and capable of following the instructions that came with your X coil it is a simple process that simply requires care and understanding of instructions. If you are not competent with a soldering iron and not capable of following DIY instructions don`t do it, tis simple as that. The patch cable to me was a simple DIY operation, but I love and have a passion for DIY To blame someone else because they are capable of such and thus portray it as being such when you prove to be not capable is your personal option. I applaud you for having a go but I don`t applaud you for blaming anyone but yourself, in particular I don`t applaud people who have not experienced the making of the cable saying any more in the X coil threads then it is not for them. The only people I believe who were ridiculed in this saga were the X coil enthusiasts of which I am one, plus the skullduggery and drama came from others not from X coil enthusiasts. My use and success with the X coils as productive gear that raise the Z another level was tempered by my experience since the late 70s to 98 as a hobbiest from 98 to now as this is what I do for life plus catch barras, camp out and enjoy my backyard. The X coils I have, have paid for themselves many times over as have most of my gold detectors and accessories since year dot. What the Z coil Saga on DP has taught me is I can not be bothered giving my views on products on DP again. This is my perspective go ahead folks and ridicule my perspective all you like, the weight in my pocket offsets such and I really think that is the nitty gritty of those who ridicule others success, thus I say to those of you who have not experienced the X coil in a positive manner, who have never used a X coil, don`t be envious of those who are positive about them.

  8. Went to another old patch today to try a different tactic; since there was larger gold found here in the past, I decided to run in Extra Deep Gold Mode. It had no problem punching 17” on a sweet, chunky 5 gram nugget, and it handles the noisy alkali soils very well, too.

  9. Norm, even though I've never been as fortunate as others to meet you, reading your posts here gave me a good feeling about you -- one of those people I'd like to have for a neighbor and face-to-face friend. Although your detecting days are over there is still much we can learn from you. Please continue to share your wisdom with us. I look forward to it now as much as I ever did.

  10. Thanks for the update Norm, You dont know how glad I am that I got to swing by and visit with you... i knew you were a little sick from the surgery but i had no idea about this ALS until I got to Quincy. I know you have family there and I am grateful for that, but you also have a big family out here that are all praying for you. Much love to you and Heather ,and i pray for strength that only comes from God as you face this. You are one of the good ones for sure!!!! If I can do anything that would be a help, give me a call or a message. Love you brother, paul

  11. Hey Norm, sorry to hear the diagnosis. It's hard to do at first but keep your spirits high and thoughts positive, and don't give in because you probably still have a lot of life ahead of you. I have to believe that deciding to take control of our own fate by believing we will persist for as long as we can has real effect. I have somewhat similar issues as occurs in ALS so I can kinda relate, and my clock is ticking too, with sclerosis in my brain and c-spine that left me partially paralyzed and without muscle control in other areas, and blind in one eye, thankfully much of which I recovered. Some might be luck, but I think some is just refusing to give up until we are ready and not accepting less. Life is a fatal diagnosis for everyone afterall from the day were are all born, and we all fight to stay alive daily just against the elements, so getting another diagnosis later on can be looked at as nothing but another hurdle along the way that might take a little more fighting. Stay positive, believe that you have some power over your body to keep going, and I think it will carry you forward longer than doctors think. Keep working your brain. I like to play chess daily to keep my mind sharp when I feel some decline or end up with new brain lesions, doing prospecting and geology research also helps. If you have anything like that that takes some brain work, keep it up, keep active where you can. I feel like it forms new pathways in the brain when old ones get damaged and maybe prolongs decline. Good luck man.

  12. Steve a good post and a golden opportunity for everyone to put a line under the whole sorry mess and move on into sensible discussion. No one will truly know EXACTLY what happened behind the scenes because the main combatants have largely gone away for a myriad of reasons with the main incentive being marketing and sales. I for one am not proud of my involvement because of the harm to those who do not know the whole story, that’s the price others are having to pay because of my stupid stubborn sense of injustice. I’ll own my part in the drama in the hopes that those who know me well enough can get an inkling of the true nature of what went on. I was already moving on on the subject before it all blew sky high on the forum anyway, in retrospect I should have had more faith in others and left it alone much earlier. 😔 Here’s my ‘being upfront’ statement on the subject of X coils: I am not a fan of the Flat wound DOD coils in variable reactive soils but I have not used any of the latest ones, so they might have improved since my last experience. That is not to say they do not perform because they clearly do. I am extremely grateful to X coils for paving the way for us GPZ users having at least some sort of option over the “Communist Choice” option of the GPZ14 (pun intended but no offence meant 😂 ). If it wasn’t for X coils we would not be seeing NF providing the Zsearch coils. The adapter is still an issue for obvious reasons, I made one up yesterday and even though I like to think I know my way around a soldering iron and a Multimeter I still cringe when I power up my detector to test it. I still have good communications with my contacts at X coils, that should tell people a lot about the bigger picture. I have received a reasonable amount of X coils since their inception, some experimental and others being finished product (even throughout the forum coil wars 🤔). I have over time sold off most of those. I’ve currently used the 3 examples of the new Concentric coils 2 of which which were gifted to me during the shake up with the X coil company. (I am still not fully around the new business arrangement). I have found gold with all three concentric coils. All three Concentric coils have ferrite balanced well. All three CC coils have worked extremely well in mineralised variable soils. All three show signs of having less EMI. All three are incredibly sensitive relative to their size. I understand how they have achieved this performance with the Concentric's and take my hat off to them. All three have more depth and sensitivity over standard coils even in bad ground (taking into consideration size differences etc). The sweetheart coil is the 15” Concentric with the 17” CC coming in a close second (relative to my home environment, tight bush land, the 17” CC would be in front in the more open spaces like WA). I have not used the bigger coil enough due to grass and moisture content of our local soils to fully realise what it can do. I do not sell X coils but I have helped steer a few people towards acquiring them, people who are realistic and comfortable to take the risk. I am more than happy to have a discussion on the subject of X coils because it is relative to what we do, so long as people understand there is also risk involved. Think of X coils like a remap of your diesel turbo charged engine, there is an inherent risk in modifying your car away from the manufacturers specs and if the engine blows then the responsibility falls on you the owner. There are millions of vehicles out there that are performing reliably every day with an engine remap, I am one of those people who has done it and appreciate the improvement in my vehicles drivability. X coils are basically a remap of your GPZ, but it requires a bit of risk and you need to find a guy who can do the mod for you so you can safely participate. JP

  13. I posted this over 18 months ago re: the QED. I'd also previously posted about audio, Bluetooth & ground balancing issues elsewhere too but some of those issues had been or were reportedly being addressed. I was widely attacked & ridiculed by some QED users, some dealers + those close to the "project" (I call it a project because the build has a project type feel & it's still evolving by the reports?). Other QED users thanked me privately for saying what they wanted to but felt they couldn't for one reason or another. Funny how things turn out & the truth prevails in the end! I was at times outspoken about concerns over the GPZ adapter too. Probably reacted to some of the "damage control" in a pretty blunt manner which was rightfully moderated (sorry Steve). I think where issues or possible risks exist it should be able to be discussed openly without the fear of being attacked, ridiculed or having a damage control team go into action to discredit real concerns. As should the positives of those same products. Gives people a chance to weigh things up with the broader picture of things. Thank you Steve!

  15. Yup I think its a keeper!!! GB, your correct. The zincoln's do do break on some weird spots depending on corrosion and ground conditions. The IH's with the 1864 year and bronze make up produce a different tone, VDI wise they are only a couple of points off. Over all my equinox and yours will most definitely react in much different ways, depending on soil and coin or target corrosion. Testing and digging to your liking will always produce results that are much different from our fellow detectors. Basic set up's are a help but they do not guarantee the best performance for all of of our area's. Heck, I usually have to change programs in almost every place I hunt. Granted, I still have hundreds of hours to go figuring this machine out, But judging how the Minelab people designed the equinox I'm pretty sure that drifting far from factory settings is just a big mistake. Other than tone breaks, Tone sounds, recovery speed ( I use 4) and sensitivity (I use 17) From the limited hours I have on this machine, I don't see the need to go crazy. Most people spend more time over complicating programs than finding better places to hunt. All that being said, I really think that the equinox is a game changer (I didn't believe that prior to owning one) In a way that I can not explain. It does things that are much much different than other machines. BUT that will not help if you don't take the time to listen to what it's telling you.

  16. Oh I agree with that, but we apparently disagree on who the "good guys" and the "bad guys" are. I Just Don't Care. History. Water under the Ffffffing Bridge. Yes, it was this and that and the other. A drama that will live in history. If you want to perpetuate the drama, leave, put a stop to it, stay. That's aimed at the air, at the internet, at everyone out there. Maybe it’s a Yank Aussie thing. It feels like there is a disconnect at some basic communication level that just makes stuff harder. I start a thread trying to clear the air, we end up arguing over how the air is being cleared. Sigh. I'm going to descend into a dungeon and kill some trolls. You all have fun, see you soon. I'm spiraling the drain again so better take a break.

  17. I'm being as direct as I can be. I'm letting people decide for themselves if they are my friends or not, because I sure as heck can't tell the difference apparently. I've always been a sucker. I've hired hundreds of people, been ripped off by oh so many of them. Many I did like a lot, a few I thought were friends... before they slid the knife between my ribs. People I defended.... until I found out they were stealing from me. So who are my friends? Are you my friend Norvic? People think I'm hiding stuff... I'm the guy that comes out and tells the world he is an ex drunk! I'm old, I'm secure, I owe nobody anything, and nobody has anything on me. Nobody can tell shittier tales about themselves than I can. You can't buy protection like that; I earned it. The problem is I get along with anyone, and I am non-confrontational. Trust me, I can confront as good or better than most. I just hate it is all. So this place is supposed to be where I can avoid confrontation. I still trust until screwed, and that is usually how it goes, but I won't change now. I'm your basic kind hearted trusting soul who in my career was forced to be anything but, I hated that, to the point where killing the pain with the bottle nearly killed me. It's easy, here I am, letting it hang out, guts and glory, and screw anyone who thinks its anything but me being me. And if that's not your cup of tea, I get it. I just don't care if people like me or not as long as its me they are liking or not liking. Don't like me for the right reasons, not made up stuff. I am a busy guy, and the x coil drama so middle school I could scream. I'm a genuine really serious person at one level, and I've had enough. I'm interested in these coils, I'd like to discuss them with people, I'm clearing the air to do just that. Anyone wants to play, be an actual adult instead of middle school player... then stick around and let's talk.

  18. I cannot afford a GPZ 7000 and I wouldn't enjoy swinging it either at my age. Cutting off the connector on an expensive stock coil in order to make an unsanctioned aftermarket coil work that costs more than most of my detectors is just beyond my comprehension unless I am working an area that will easily and quickly pay for all of that equipment, modifications and possible equipment failures due to the modifications which will not be covered by a warranty. As far as the QED, I have one. I paid for it. I did not pay much attention to what the now ex-dealer said before or after he became an ex-dealer. The QED I have works quite well with smaller coils. Is it even close to a GPX 5000........NO. Is it better than a Whites TDI for me.....YES so far. I don't have enough hours on it yet to compare it definitively to the SDC 2300 except to say that it is tons easier to swing and coil changes including DDs are easy. If anyone wants to borrow it just let me know. As far as this forum is concerned, it is where I feel at home with people like Steve, Rob A, Bill S, Gerry, and many other detector lovers and prospecting friends here that I respect and trust. My day would not be the same without this forum.

  19. Better day today. Old patch that has been hammered and someone salted it with lead shot!! The EMI which I thought would be an issue actually was fine so managed to stay with the mono. Found my first 6000 bit...all 0.14g of it ha ha It was actually the most fun I have had detecting in ages. This thing is a pleasure to use. The small bit gave a loud signal...tested it in normal and difficult, no difference really at all. Had a play with threshold off, not really a fan, but it still picked up a lead shot in the 10 minutes I tried it.

  20. I agree with what a lot of people have posted. I did some reading on it and I'm always a believer in using your mind to help heal. As others have said, Steven Hawking (and probably others we don't hear about) live a long time with it. I think you have already acknowledged and come to terms with it, and now can hopefully move past it and continue to gain strength and keep mentally active. No one knows how long anyone of us have, so every day is precious. Stay strong. Take the good days when they are there, rest on the bad days. Maybe there will be some new drug trials coming up soon. You have a lot of us in your corner, rooting for you.

  22. Good chance Jason and I may hook up before then so Jason can use my 6000 and compare to his gear. So if nobody answers, wait a month instead of eight. The GPX 6000 can hit sub grammers as good or better than a stock 7000. But I guess you need to see it with your eyes. Sure, you can put a Nugget Finder or X Coil on your GPZ to get it up to 6000 performance. If that's the question, then getting the Nugget Finder or X coil is the way to get there.

  24. With my audio settings, Audio Smoothing set to High gives the most crisp and distinct signal relative to the threshold hum. Running the smoothing off while the Volume is set high to amplify the faint targets results in a target response that blends into the threshold hum, and sounds washed out and weak.

The X Coil Concentrics are seemingly unstoppable with their reopening of old patches in Aus 😄 https://www.facebook.com/groups/3553656301344280 Acting on Ilya's advice, I'm now expecting a 26" CC instead of a DOD. There's a considerable weight difference and the 26" will have a larger diameter centre winding than the 22". This should give much greater depth -

  28. All I can say about my insane settings, is that Steve’s General Theory of Detecting says that if you do not light the nugget up in the first place, then you can’t hear/detect it. My settings were predicated on found targets that respond to those settings, and no others. Change the settings, that insane class of nuggets goes away with it. Here. On my ground, and my targets, and my style of hunting. What can I say, I like them hot!

  31. On the east coast I am running about the same 50/50 for pre 1850 silver (Capped Bust / Seated) vs Reales. What is really hard is Draped Bust silver in my area. On the lower coast they find them occasionally, but interior wise I haven't found one yet. The most common Spanish I have found is in the 1770's - 1790's Carlous varieties. Occasionally the 1800's stuff comes up. What we drool over from the western part of the country is the "S" mintage coins, the gold coins, gold nuggets and the meteorites.

I've seen you over the years in several parts of the west. Each time you always greeted me/us with a warm smile and you were able to show me some nice nuggets. I'll miss seeing you in those places but I'll always think of you and Heather feeding the hummingbirds on Tom Wells Road. Your spirit lives with the hummingbirds for me. Please post up some of your favorite finds so we can share the memories with you. Your friends Mitchel, Lu, Curtis and Colgan

  36. Very sad to hear that Norm. I do hope that any potential therapies that are available to you are helpful in managing symptoms and improving quality of life. I'm not sure what Palliative Care services are like in the US but here in Aus it is better to be linked-in well before you think you need them as they can provide lots of assistance, advice, equipment and support for the client and their families. A lot of people are shocked when we bring up Palliative Care so early because they think it means they must not have much time. We have to reassure them that PC isn't all about death, it is about living and living well. All the best to you and your family. And I hope the goings on of the forum can brighten your day every now and then 🙂 N.E.

  38. Ok. Thanks for replying and giving me your perspective. I guess I tend to look for opportunities to try to resolve misunderstandings instead of wedges to try to drive folks apart. Just thought I would point things that I thought were overlooked. Guess I was wrong. Wishing you the best.

  39. And to clarify Jeff... a good running QED works, and your reporting is not in question. Yet reading the stuff popping up now, lots of others did or are having problems now. And this is like version 4, but only now we are hearing this stuff? I'm not casting stones, just seeing again why I test stuff for myself.

  40. Nice Chunk!!! Awesome find Lunk, that makes going back to the grind a little easier 😂😂 I started running extra deep for my last swings through a patch. I started doing that after reading what JP was telling us earlier about it. This winter with all my research on the GPZ it has immensely helped in the beginning of this year. Usually I start out similar to what Lunk‘s original settings were (he was my teacher afterall), after I pick up all the garbage and easy gold, I like to go back through using Steve’s Mega Hot settings (which so far has pulled out targets I missed), then go back with extra deep (nothing yet). Just like new detectors and coils, new settings open up old patches again too!

  41. Love it dog!! That's the way to bang'um out!! Fate got the right machine in your hands! On that button bonanza, I was thinking a discarded piece of clothing, or spill, contributed to the tight proximity! After all the cleanup, give us a few more close-ups of your treasures! Great job!!💰👍👍

  42. I'm pretty sure I find them either deep or on edge. Indian heads are the noisiest coins I dig, with Zincolns a close second.

  43. I've not experienced this. How deep are these targets or does it happen independent of depth? I wonder if your soil characteristics are contributing to this. What I've experienced is that the same target type (e.g. silver dime, Indian Head Penny) will give a tighter distribution of digital TID's when shallow to moderate (say 3-5 inches) but deeper, the dTID spread broadens. For very shallow targets I may get a single dTID but that usually isn't the case for me as depth gets more than a couple inches. (I hunt with recovery speed = 4 which may have something to do with this, though.) I've never studied how target orientation affects dTID's but I do think it has an effect, and possibly a big one.

  46. The cable gland is in front because it is the technology inside that imposes it. (coil specifications) There will be less variation due to salt water during a swing.

  49. Norm I have been in a lot of forum, and have seen a lot of good people some have now gone but you are still here, and are one of the top people that I have enjoyed following. Don't get too upset with the bad news there is always some hope to enjoy what time you have left. I had a good health record except some bad accidents that were considered very bad head injuries. That changed 6 years ago with AF that they could not control even with drugs, pacemaker, Catheter ablation and Cryoablation. That worked for awhile (1 year) three weeks after getting an A plus from the specialist I had a Cardiac Arrest at home on the lawn. The pacemaker recorded that I had no heart beat for over 22 minutes. Luckily with 30 minutes of rapid CPR and a helicopter trip to Melb. 100 miles away the medical staff saved me Not forgetting them telling the Wife that chances of making it would be highly unlikely and if I did there would be lot of brain damage. Now the electric of my heart are totally reliant on an auto ICD with a defibrillator. Well I beat the odds now it is your time to do the same. Stephen Hawking had ALS. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is two to five years, but some patients may live for years or even decades. (The famous physicist Stephen Hawking, for example, lived for more than 50 years after he was diagnosed.) so the odds are different for every one. Let hear some more of your gold expeditions and other enjoyable memories, and don't let the bad news ruin the time that you have. Regards Geof.

  50. That was quite an amazing hunt. I hate to say it, but I am not surprised. The Equinox 600 and 800 can really detect some deep targets and they don’t just detect them. Lots of VLFs can do that. The Equinox 600 and 800 can actually give the user enough information to accurately identify the conductivity of those deep targets and they can definitely give enough information to encourage digging them. I have owned and used all of the current major intermediate level VLF detectors except for the Anfibio and have tested them in the field against the Equinox on wild targets and in my test bed. Sure, any decent detector coupled with an experienced detector operator can find targets that others have missed. But when I go behind myself with an Equinox on ground I have detected with other detectors...............I really can’t believe it sometimes and I rarely have my Equinox on full power.
