  1. I've had a known gold-bearing patch stare me in the face for over 35 years, denying me any semblance of gold under my coil. I've tried my luck there dozens of times, with almost every new detector or coil combo, all to no avail. The place just thumbed its nose at me..... until Monday. I used my 6000 with the 10x5 Goldhawk mono, wound up to Auto 1 in difficult (my 'go-to' setting if soil conditions allow) and I found 2 small bits weighing just .3gm. Then yesterday I went back....just to prove it wasn't a 'fluke'. The result was the nugget in the attached pic.... 3.1gm. Another 2 small bits followed. My Nemesis is now conquered! Anyone else have a 'Nemesis' patch that defies all efforts to pluck gold from? Of all the places here in Victoria that I've tried, this one was the only patch that defied me....but no longer! Sorry but I had to tell someone....just to celebrate

  2. In big business when beholden to shareholders, well, I think that anyone who thinks ethics and morality is job one has rose colored glasses. It's eat or be eaten, and if it's not outright illegal, it will generally get done if it means winning when others lose. Of course such things are not done in writing. They are done at night at a private dinner, or in other "he said she said" deniable ways. I've gone swimming with the sharks myself, and it is not pretty. People are best off not knowing sometimes how the sausage is made, or who is doing what to somebody else in the "boardroom bedroom." At the end of the day it is all just drama and will matter little in whether I find any gold nuggets next week or not.

  3. Just got out to hunt for a couple hours after work. My son went with me with my old Whites XLT. This is only the second time I have been out with V1, and only a couple hours each time. I was using a modified fast (my V 0.71 custom program I am trying to adapt to the new version before I start branching out and exploring new options). I was hunting right under a low level powerline and getting lots of chatter. I had dropped the sensitivity to the mid 80s which helped a bit. Hit a nice high 80s TID less than a foot off the road and out popped this ring. I’m thinking the “stones“ are plastic, but the band is stamped 925 and has a little skewed + near it. Also found this Disney rocket car. My son found the metal disc which says distinguished visitor usite 72. A quick Internet search keeps turning up stuff like aircraft carrier tours, but I’m not sure that’s correct. He would love to know what it is so if any of you happen to know please chime in. Thanks!

  4. I'm so glad you beat your nemesis, I really do like that little Goldhawk 10x5" coil. If JW reads this he'll have a bit of a chuckle as I too had a nemesis and we often talk about it being my nemesis, we would often go to this spot as it's right near his house and he found gold there all the time although mostly very tiny bits but for me it was very elusive, I struggled to find anything, if I was lucky I came home with one or two tiny bits but was skunked more often than not, then one day it happened and much like your event I gave my nemesis a good beating. The grounds pretty wild though, this was the exact spot that gave up all the goods. Including this, which is a very big nugget for us around here. and the total for the little spot, you can almost see the entire area it all came from in that photo above. And the smallest bit of the area. I had my Nox along for the ride to try find some tiny bits but didn't end up using it much as it was too troubled by the hot rocks. This tiny bit was the work of the GPZ and the smallest one from the spot. Nemesis Conquered! Although I should add my Nemesis tried to fight back, on the walk out of there I dropped my gold bottle with all 6 grams of gold in it, I realized right when I got back to the car, and it was now dark, so we went back to JW's and got torches and went back to look for it, I thought it was gone forever but JW was confident we would find it. Turns out I'd dropped it right back at the spot when I was packing up my bag. I was so annoyed at myself but so happy to have found it. My nemesis didn't want to give up easily.

  5. https://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/en/ba/the-blog/deus-ii-v1-0-update-instructions.php XP would like to express its gratitude to all users for providing valuable feedback following the release of version 1.0. We appreciate your input, and based on your feedback, we are pleased to introduce version 1.1: Bug Fixes: We have successfully resolved the issue of remote control rebooting or WS6 freezing in very rare configurations. Other Improvements: The FE.TID (Ferrous Target display) setting is now enabled by default. If you prefer not to display ferrous target IDs, you can turn off the FE.TID setting. We have made corrections to the SILENCER function in programs P1, P2, P4, P5, and P6. Now, Silencer levels 0, 1, and 2 provide the same rejection as in V0.71, while higher levels from 3 offer better iron rejection. The program 3 SENSI FT uses different Silencer close to V1.0.

  6. Up in NY for a couple weeks and hunting some property that is quite old. This is my first time dirt hunting with the Manti, so I'm playing it cautious and primarily digging good signals and hunting in LC mode. Here are some finds that are pretty impressive to me. I've been saltwater beach hunting up until now, but this is FUN! First and second picture I was hunting near the old house. More newer things but I did find a large cent, can't read any dates on anything. Third picture is a nice old marked button in a field a few hundred feet from the house. This area is where I'm finding more old coins and buttons. No dates can be read so I need to find a silver coin... Hopefully! Trying to post multiple pics off a laptop that I am also learning!! Will post more later as I learn more. Just looking at the pictures as they got posted. They are not in order so the first picture shows some of todays' morning finds. Second to last is from near the house.

  7. To put it crudely,... Minelab have us by the short and curli's. Due to one man who with some mates in a shed in Adelaide put together a metal detector to challenge the big American boys to now being the detector company that totally dominates the scene. Impressive? Hell yes. What is going on now though is any body's guess. It all changed with Codan take over, and how much of the original genius has been retained? Going offshore to produce cheaper would have been abhorrent to the original Minelab crew (and I knew most of them). They were not the sort of team that was out to make huge money, but to prove that good old Aussie ingenuity was as good as the best. All changed now I guess, and no going back to an age of challenge above making the buck.

  8. I went detecting at a park today the first time since updating to ver 1.0. Very little iron. I used sensitive FT as my base and raised sensitivity to 95, high square tone, audio response down to 3 , no notch. And loved how it did. Very stable. I found these my first silver with ver 1.0 along with coins, pull tabs and usual trash. Even found a 12ga head stamp UMC new club which was made from 1892-1900. So over all a great 3 hour hunt

  11. It makes me think of this little gem: Business is like other relationships. You get in bed with somebody else thinking it will be great for both parties. But sometimes you find out it's just one person getting screwed, and the other doing the screwing. The final lesson being that just like with any relationship, outside observers rarely know which party is which.

  12. Again beach programs are not mentioned. I assume they are the same as P1. i feel like I’m a bottom feeder looked down on and ignored. All I do is water hunt so it would be nice to be included in the videos and comments even though we are a small majority compared to the land hunters. My $1400.00 was just as green as the land guys lol. Sorry about my rant.

  13. New tech detectors give us these patches, the Z plus X coils CC were shown up by the 6K then along came the Gold Hawk now Xceed which shows there was life in those areas still, but if you`ve been around since the early VLFs then you know nothing has changed except tech advances uncover more continuously. The Electronic Gold rush goes on...... and may it do so for many years.............

  14. O-rings work pretty well for locking down the twist locks on the GPX 6000 shaft, but they don’t work perfectly and get really hard to unlock. So in trying to figure out a better way to go, I decided to try something much different. I don’t remember who first mentioned this, but using Detecting Innovations’ Glueless Clamps designed for Tele-Knox Shafts are a really great modification! High Plains Prospectors sells a set containing 2 clamps for $20, and they fit GPX 6000 shaft sections perfectly. For this modification, you have to cut off the two twist locks right up next to each one, and the best way I know to cut carbon fiber shaft tubes is with a basic diamond bladed tile saw so you don’t mess up the fibers. You don’t need water for it either. The shaft clamps work perfectly, and fit very well. You do not need to use glue or anything like that, they simply tighten up with a hex screw that is included with the kit. My 6000 is much more compact and I’ve only lost about 2 inches total from the shaft length by cutting off the twist locks. o

  15. It has some things that need fixing. I'm very happy with mine ... actually have two, but after some initial hunting, one has been sitting as standby just in case the other has issues. The AQ LTD has paid for both AQ LTD detectors and then a some. Many of the good targets found with it would probably have been found with other detectors, but a few of the goodies, I suspect not. When I go back to the Excal hunting in all metal I quickly find myself mumbling to myself "not any deep targets today" ... then again, I don't get as sore from digging on the Excal days. I too am surprised in the lack of interest in it; even as a diamond in a somewhat raw state, it is still a diamond.

  16. Multi can ground balance to both wet salt sand and magnetite at the same time. Single frequency can do one or the other. So on low mineral white sand or coral type saltwater beaches single frequency is just fine. Or on fresh water beaches. The more iron sands you have on a saltwater beach however, the more multi will be the much better option.

  21. The reason Minelab got so far ahead with gold detectors is because the competition didn't put the effort in, didn't put the $ into R&D and allowed it to happen which was a big mistake. Where they did always remain competitive was with the VLF's and we can still see that now, Minelab doesn't dominate, they had a boost with the Equinox while others played catch up but it's a neck and neck competition with no clear winner. So do we blame Minelab for their sky high detector prices or do we blame the lazy competitors that didn't take on the challenge? 🙂 Australia was naturally a country where making gold detectors would be something of interest with the large amounts of detectable gold in the country, a country with little to no gold or not as much interest in finding the gold with detectors is unlikely to be the determined one to make such detectors so that maybe why some manufacturers were more motivated than others in the early days of detectors. Now these other companies are looking to play catch up after decades of Minelab having dominance. QED in a way showed it's possible for even a small business run in a garage to make a viable detector to sell to give the market another option with reasonable performance so the jump isn't all that high to get something to market that people will buy if one man with some electronics knowledge and a 3D printer at his disposal can make a detector. Garrett now have their very competitive detector on the market, Fisher are still working towards theirs, Nokta doing what they do best and getting onboard making a Gold Prospecting PI too. Will Minelab always have this dominance? I don't know if they will. Garrett's first real attempt at fighting back isn't being left in the dust so who knows, if they have a second attempt in the future they may overtake, it's possible. It sounds to me Nokta may have some home grown motivation to make gold detectors too, Turkey is the world's nineteenth-largest producer of gold, with output of 1,594koz in 2022, up by 11% on 2021. Turkey, which in the early 2000s was unable to produce even one gram of gold, In 2020 produced 42 tons of gold in 18 active mines despite the pandemic. https://www.businesstoday.in/latest/world/story/gold-worth-6-billion-discovered-in-turkey-mining-to-start-within-two-years-282413-2020-12-24

  22. Found this information. This was the name given to a type of light-weight bicycle made by the thousands in Syracuse by E.C. Stearns & Co. Edward C. Stearns transformed his father’s hardware and wagon factory to a bicycle factory. An excellent rider himself, Stearns opened his business on Oneida Street in 1888 and eventually watched it grow to have four plants in Syracuse and 3,500 employees. Additionally, the company had plants in Toronto, Canada and Germany. At one time, Stearns was the largest manufacturer of bicycles in the world.

  23. Great hunt! 👍 You got some excellent relics. Your Dandy button is made of Tombac, an old combination of copper and zinc, it may have lead and tin and arsenic as well. You'll notice the engraving might be irregular just slightly, many were hand engraved. Far less expensive to make than brass buttons. They are from the period of 1770 to 1795 if they are larger than 30mm. They were in use until about 1815, after 1795 they were generally smaller than 30mm. They were a status symbol. I'd track down the text on that bicycle plate, that would be interesting, and no worries about the large cent, just be glad you got one, they are often unreadable but the bust can give you an idea of age. Look up large cents. I like relic hunting best of all, glad you're enjoying it. 🙂

  24. Thanks for that information! I didn't know they were called Dandy Buttons. I'm researching their history and it's really interesting. No idea where it was made. I guess by measuring it you can get an approximation of its age.

  25. The new audio is brilliant! In the ocean of iron, I can easily lock on a target and after that, I can get more data about the target kind... that is a lot of information. Smooth plain and easy data. If you add ID - bug numbers, XY, and 90 degrees turn... and you know everything.

  26. It was a certain let down after the initial introduction and I feel a lot of trust was lost with The Fisher company. Meanwhile, I'm surprised other companies haven't tried to capitalize on the idea of a better discriminating PI machine.

  30. The shocking (but not surprised) part is the fact that with all the hype 2-3 years ago , they couldn't sell 100 units. And now it gets worse. They decide to offload the remaining batch to basically a wholesaler. But wait , there's more ! The marketing maniacs decide to jack the price up another 5 bones. I would be embarrassed if I was on their team. Can only imagine what these winners are gonna come up with next.

  31. It is the same .. first edition, if you got one that works and... it last for you... it will find the gold in the right place and if used correctly. That's a lot of variables to get aligned, which many found they could not get all working together and that equals many unhappy AQ owners. Its up to Fisher to correct their end if they want to turn this around, and selling the remaining "First Edition" is not what a company should be doing if it cared about their customers.

  37. I see in the description for firmware 1.1 that they changed silencer in values 0,1 and 2. So the value 0 was also different and it was returned to the original version from firmware 0.71. Link to update 1.1 info: https://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/en/ba/the-blog/deus-ii-v1-0-update-instructions.php upd: Now delete info about 1.1 🙂. May be some fix.

  39. ...I think it's more similar to the 700-900 range than the previous Nox. Extended scale, VCO audio, ML85 headphones... Only when you turn it on do you realize that the processor is much faster. I l want to see the test with the oscilloscope too. Plain and simple, it doesn't work like an SF. I don't believe it, experience tells me it's impossible... Underwater is amazing!!! I have also tried it on hard terrain beaches (where my Nox 800 has problems) and it still works just as well. I don't know how they did it... Far above Nokta's "multi" range. In my opinion. An excellent starter machine...🤣

About Polish Vat you need to contact store I dont want to say something that is not true but it can be that VAT could be deducted from price (23%).

  42. I’m looking for a new pinpointer to replace my 6 year old TRX (it was replaced once under warranty before Whites became defunct). I had thought about the XP MI6, but I really like the discrimination feature of the Quest and that it detects mainly from the tip like the TRX. I was going to order the pinpointer max, but I see now where the newest 2023 version has the magic holster that turns the pinpointer on and off when removing or replacing it in the magic holster. However, from searching for the newest version, it looks like no one has them in stock. Does anyone know when they’ll become available?

  44. I hope in the end you all get the detector you desire and Fisher releases the final product with all issues resolved along with them taking the advice of the AQ users about the various ways to improve it after all that's what beta testing is for and that's what AQ owners essentially are/were. I hope Fisher comes through with the goods and gives the AQ Limited owners a substantial discount on the final product, or ideally a free exchange program. When working properly it seems like a very good detector for it's purpose, so Fisher should press on and release a final improved product along with the Impact Gold. The VLF market seems so saturated now so the PI market is where there is room for these manufacturers to bring out products with a difference. The AQ and Gold can provide a difference that makes them desirable over existing detectors on the market.

I pulled this one out of an old park this weekend, really boarder line jumpy signal, could have been anything, but it was this thin Canadian dime at about 9 inches. I'm not sure if my digger did the damage on the front or not. ☹️ AT gen sens 27 (normally this park has an enormous amount of EMI)
