2 rings today my wife got the wave looking one — so 2 925s for us today. Lil bit of change and some cheaper jewelry. Got excited when the gold earring popped out. Thought I had a gold ring at first then my hopes were crushed when it turned out to be cheaper jewelry. 😝 The shark tooth pendant is a nice find too. It’s about an inch long. Back at it tomorrow. Spent most of the morning in the water. Pretty calm for a change on this coast — it was nice to be able to get out in the surf up to my waist without getting slammed by waves. Dug a lot of junk targets too that are not in pictures.11 points

On Saturday night i went to the beach for 3 hours from 9pm and as the weather was very warm i hoped there would be something to find. The coinage was a bit sparse as only had £12.10p and a 1 Euro coin. But i had 3 Junk rings and my first Gold for the year and first with the Terra Pro. It wasn't deep but was near the waters edge and came in somewhere in the 50's It is a 22k 4.4g band . Nothing like finding Gold. I may well be back there on Monday evening . May well be with the Terra Pro again or the Legend.8 points

I was detecting a middle school, and got another 925 silver , I could tell it was heavy , but when I got home and put the magnifier on it it was marked 925, At least some of the people have good jewelry , those pencil eraser sound like a good target , Dug alot of them . The toy car is a Lincoln continental. also found 2.40$ in clad7 points

Didn't get much yesterday so I didn't have high hopes for today. Beautiful day, sunny, breezy and not too hot. Wind out of the southeast kept the pollution down. Went to the canal area this morning and used the WS6 with the 9" coil. Found a few coins here and most of my trash, along with the 2 Zincolns I got today. Next place I went was a small field at the very top end of the campground, a place I got about 60 coins last year. I wasn't expecting to find much but I was wrong. In just a small area about the size of a crowded city yard, not even a 10th of an acre (not this whole field), the coins just kept coming. Found one right after I dug the previous one. I was only here for a couple hours using the D2 and 13" coil. Ended up with 46 coins today, way more than I thought I would find. I got about 60 in this spot last year using the D2 when it was new, guess I really didn't have a handle on it. 🤣 I dug almost no trash at all here, two blobs of molten aluminum and a small aluminum strap. Got 2 1965 quarters 😏 Everything was from the 1960s to present. Here's what I got for trash elsewhere, only a couple pieces from the last spot. None of the above is iron. I was notching to 40 with the WS6, but not with the D2. I didn't see any difference between the 13" and the 9" really other than weight, both performed equally well. I'm kinda baffled that I'm not finding any silver coins here at all, I think I got one Mercury dime two years ago. Perhaps it was cherry picked, but everywhere? And with so many other coins? Also odd that I didn't get any nickels today, didn't see any 61/62 IDs. 🤔 Edit: used The Devil's Tongue Park Probe again quite a bit today, dug this quarter out from between two roots. 🙂6 points

Digger Dave should be in the fertiliser business. No shortage of BS. Any experienced prospector knows that the picture he paints is a lot less than factual, or honest for that matter. Flash a few colours at the 'new chum' and bingo, he has his (or her) money. The number of expensive near new detectors for sale on various web sites tell the real story. Just as in the old days...If you can't make it as a prospector there is always the option of making money selling the tools. Speaking of BS. Cop this lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reQli3a4X38&t=47s5 points

moved to a new camp site and just detected within walking distance of the van today (few hundred meters') just about 5 grams between the two of us. And yes the 7000's with x-coils have been over this ground last year as well and there are still some tiny bits of gold there for the 6000 The camp site Veronica out detecting with the gpx6000 cheers dave4 points

The new wave of retiree detectorists in Australia certainly have the cash to spare, sadly as reflected by the number of flashy 4x4's I see bogged to the axles on any popular vehicle access beach in recent times, I fear it may be a case of " all the gear and no idea "4 points

Thanks Steve for your time and information. My test piece is about the size Gerry posted in his picture. My 14" nugget finder coil on my 4500 had no trouble. My Axiom would not hear it any part of mono coil. A lead bullet would only be heard on the back past the center of coil. I called Chris Gholson and he gave me info to contact Garret. I sent it in 4 days ago they should have it now. ill post what they find out.4 points

Did a video test with my second custom program. Maybe someone remember the Focus1 based on program 2, in Pitch. This one is based on program 12, beach sens. Its name is “Focus 2T”. It’s with 2 tones and first tone break on 9. Magnetic reject, audio filter 5, sensitivity 95 and reactivity 1-1.5. It’s a nice result because that soil is hematite and that target is a very low conductor. Coil is the 11”. 13” couldn’t detect the target so I’ll do another test with 11”, 9” and 13”.2 points

OK, after what I would call a successful detecting week last week where I scratched off a couple minor-league bucket listers (silver ring, Sacagawea dollar, >5 coins in one hole), I've gotten skunked on my last two hunts. (Although I will say I now know where the local high schoolers drink beer out-of-sight on the local playground, based upon the volume of Bud Light cans dug.) Granted, this skunk hit when testing new/low traffic areas on existing public grounds, so my expectations were low anyways. So, what is your advice for beating the skunk? Anything from your experience, good luck charms (😅), prayer offerings, etc.? On a humorous note, last time this happened (and after I finally started digging good targets again), I arrived back home triumphant, announcing, "I beat the skunk!" Our twin boys then looked each other, confused, and turned to me and said, "Umm, it doesn't look or smell like you fought a skunk, daddy..."2 points

Your dealer should read the manual. If such a procedure was required it would be in the manual. That said, a reset is not required but is something I do personally on the Axiom and most any detector where I won’t lose a lot of settings in the process. Never have the power on when switching coils on any PI detector!2 points

I do not know of any extensive comparison tests done between the Axiom and GPX 4500 so there is also a not zero possibility the 4500 can detect that nugget better. Please do report back on what Garrett’s findings are with the machine. I’m less than thrilled so far by the reports of defective units. Yeah, Minelab really dropped the ball with the GPX 6000 in that regard. But so far I’m not impressed with the failures I’ve heard about from Garrett owners either. Can’t anyone make things correctly anymore, and more importantly, do proper quality control before units are shipped?2 points

Yes Sir, I get out in the morning and sometimes in the evening. Love it when I hit a hot spot, thought I'd word this area out, I looked back and I dug about 56 coins out of this spot last year. I have a much better understanding of the Deus 2 than I did last year, and it's working much better. Some of these coins were on edge but it hit them just the same. I could tell when they were on edge, I got a signal and turned, it would disappear or change a bit. If flat it was consistent. Many of the coins were still in the hole or deeper. My Predator Barracuda has a 6" blade, I don't bring the Ranger because it looks intimidating. 😀 Here's a photo of the recap of last year after I tumbled all the coins. In it is a 1907 Jamestown Exposition medal I dug here. Also pictured is a live Remington 35 round, one of 5 I found next to a fire pit. 😳2 points

Last year i had 3 high grade Gold rings and over 20 Silver rings with the Legend. Have used it once this year so far but the beach was quite. Had £15 though. Works well.2 points

Congrats! Nothing like some silver. That is a bunch of erasers. Lincoln Continental that’s a boat. Lol. That’s the type of car I’d like to drive around now a days. Lots of steel to protect oneself.2 points

Many thanks Nuke em. Yes, that one had been going around the sea for a while. It does not have any mark and it gives me a very low ID (11-12) for the weight, but the color tells me that it is high carat. The stone looks good... Yesterday the wind changed to the west. This morning 4 rings. I have caught a good cut... The small one is Gold (it's marked), two bigs with stones are silver and the last one is steel. Very happy with the X Terra Pro. 😁2 points

Hunted a park today , and found no cladd, just zincs, and pull tabs, but i dig Iron and was using my new super magnet, and I dug out a crecent shapped Iron object and scanned again ,Got a nice clear high tone, Up comes a crusty quarter they Missed it , and again i was digging out some bolts by the side of an Ice arena and after digging some nuts out i got a nice high tone , up comes another crusty quarter, and i got a fake ring, hopes up then rug pull Down, My new magnet uses 2" long x3/4" size neodemium N 42 housed in a copper pipe, and it really grabs the iron when i find it , bottle caps nails It really cuts down on the time looking for the iron2 points

Today was my first go at detecting after left inguinal hernia surgery last Friday (5 days). I had to get my fix and see my favorite beach. The first challenge was to put on my rubber boots. I could get my right boot on normally but when it came to the left sock it was not possible or wise to bend my leg and twist it at the angle I normally would. Once the sock was on I could jam my foot in pretty much ok. My idea was to 'cherry pick' but conditions really weren't good enough to have many choices of what to dig. I walked and walked (with no pain) but there just weren't many targets on the way out. Conditions weren't very good at the bottom of the slope. On the way back there were more targets and the uneven slope made me start feeling some tingles from the incision and the repair site. Digging was comfortable with the left hand only with my arm scoop. Bending and pulling at the sand was restricted so that I didn't over-do-it. I don't use a foot/shovel scoop. Using two hands caused pain that I wanted to avoid. In the end I had 1 quarter, 1 dime about 5 pennies, 5 pieced of trash and a really deep (18") aluminum can bottom in my collection. That was good enough. So, my questions are: "What did you do for your rehab to get back to your digging?" "Do you have any cautions or horror stories to share?" I'm not ready for a nugget trip based upon what I learned today. That could be too challenging until I have more healing time.1 point

After few sessions on the beach bough the large XP coil and the 9" i m now complete ,i m now thinking about a manticore as my mate is smashing it every week with his... Very sensitive at depth on silver and gold apparently MR1 point

Dain - Kind of a moot point now, but you also never mentioned the coil size (presuming you have the standard US kit where the smaller coil is the Mono in your case) or whether the issue manifested with both of the supplied coils unless the target was too small to be sensed by the larger DD. That could further point to whether the problem is the detector or the coil. Whatever the case, Garrett has it now and should take care of it, so definitely let us know how it gets resolved.1 point

I will donate my beloved D1 and the 3 or 4 coils I have for it to this most worthy of causes.1 point

They get left behind regularly 🙂 I've even had to drop into the hardware shop on my last detecting trip to buy a pick as it wasn't worth driving home to get it again so rather than ruin my day I just bought another pick 😛 The amount of times I went with no gold bottle at all before getting a pouch on the side of my detector! I need a little saying to make sure I remember everything.1 point

Not only is ChatGPT a good writing tool, it is a pretty serious tool for coding- it writes Python and JavaScript that works. We are on the cusp of a new development like we faced in the 80’s with consumer personal computers, and it doesn’t take a Zultar to know the future of AI for us- it will be everywhere. Clay- have you tried it with Arcpy? (I’m assuming you use GIS) It really good at it and just needs minor edits…1 point

Thanks Cap'n, It's working great for me 🙂. Don't want to hear iron? Notch to 40. Been doing that too. It's not affecting depth or anything, I'm hitting coins fairly deep. 😀 It rained here last night so that will help.1 point

Yes, I was wading and chest-deep in water, last night I went out again... I broke that old silver ring with the Scoop and was able to remove both parts, that says a lot about the detector. Finally the Pinpointer function works! And that with an easterly wind and good waves to move slightly. That FAKE Big Gold ring was very deep. He would swing negative to one side (-12 to -2) and positive to the other side (18-24). It took me a while to get it out...Remember that it's night and in the water. It has not passed the magnet test. It must be stainless steel with a bath... it hurts. But you have to get it out, it shone on the Scoop like it was good! A step forward has clearly been made in the audio. I'm starting to feel it as an extension of me. I'm liking the standard coil a lot, sensitive, deep and very precise. I use the front part as if it were my fingers searching the sand. The courtship has begun, I don't know how "the other" is going to handle it. It's been two months now without going out for a walk... Like a backup for diving...Yes!1 point
-
No, it would stick it in its mouth and take a selfie with it!1 point

People put far too much importance in the detector and not enough in their own ability, the location they're hunting and last but not least the chance a good target is under their coil at the time. Let's face it, even the direction you hit the target can change the results.... to many variables to just say one detector found me this in flogged ground and if I wasn't using this detector I would not have found it. I applaud anyone that does well with a lower cost detector, it means they don't buy into the have to have the best or you'll find nothing mantra that seems ever so common among detector users.1 point

I've been using the deus 2 for 1 month now, and I only have good words for this machine, every time I go out with the deus 2, I really enjoy it, it's incredible how deep it is, the sensitivity it has, it identifies both large and super small targets from up to a few millimeters, it is so sensitive that it alerts you to targets that are close to the diameter of the coil without actually being inside the coil, in soil with a lot of garbage it is great, in highly mineralized soil it is great and in clean soil it is already It is something incredible, I took out a coin that with a minimal sign and already bored of digging I thought that there was nothing and a not very large coin came out and I was amazed since the ground was very hard and compacted. I just want to say that every day I'm glad I bought the deus 2, and thank you for advising me, I already have enough coins, some silver from 1600AD, objects like old buttons, medals of saints, etc., also scrap metal, as happens to us. everyone hahaha.1 point

I hope nobody has had a nerve struck. I don't own an X-Terra Pro. I do own a Nox 800 and a Nox 900 which appear to operate very similarly using them in 5, 10 and 15 kHz single frequency. Like bigtim1973 said, the X-Terra Pro "doesn't break the bank and it will find targets". Wondering about target ID stability on a $269 selectable single frequency detector is one thing. Wondering about it on an $1099 or $1599 detector from the same manufacturer with similar target ID scale and a lot more advanced technology is another. If I lived in an area with very low mineralization or was mostly a lake/beach hunter and needed a backup/loaner detector, I would definitely be looking seriously at getting a fun detector like the X-Terra Pro. A selectable single frequency waterproof detector with a working saltwater beach mode, wireless, great coil selection and very lightweight for less than even $600 would be a good deal. Less than $300, amazing. Anyone just starting out detecting with very mild soil/beach conditions has to at least consider the X-Terra Pro. It might still be a little early in the game for good find reports. Nothing wrong with talking about tendencies, characteristics and impressions of this new detector.1 point
-
I guess it seems maybe I am the only one who seems to think it is a fun unit?? What I mean by fun is this....It doesn't break the bank and it finds targets. Good ergonomics and large nice display. I do not know if the software can be upgraded in the future. Maybe it can. But as a detectorist that started out with beep and dig machines from the 70s and 80s....it is a good unit. Yes it is a neutered eq600..... But with that said, it still gets good depth and finds things in the ground. I already know with the 6 inch eq coil on the xterra pro is way better that the original xterra 50 with the 6 inch 18khz coil from my experience.1 point

Thanks for the suggestion. Nenad has had these for a while. 60 milliseconds is borderline and it’s just another thing to hang off your detector and an additional thing to charge when there is a Garrett solution available. Wouldn't mind buying the whole kit (could use it on my older detectors I am too retarded to part with as well as Axiom) but the clowns at Garrett Australia don’t even have that!!! Corperate idiocy at its best1 point
