Nice finds Reese. How do you think the NF 12x7 compares to the stock 11 in depth and sensitivity?

Your experience mirrors mine to a T. I have had a good one from the start, only use the supplied BT phones but early on had a coil failure, it was quickly replaced. When the CT 10 x 5 was available I got one. I do not notice any increase in sensitivity, but it is more maneuverable. I view the update as something that must be done much like a part recall on your car. I bought the detector Nov 21, update was done when I read here JasonG had sent his away, so I have had it back for a few months.

It is a great deal but a death blow to someone trying to sell their 6000.

Does it void the warranty when you remove the speaker grill? You only sent the box correct? Or did you send the entire upper shaft? Went back and read the thread from the start and found the removal instructions....duh

Agreed, it is a bit of problem that plug does not seat to the base without at least three steps.

I tried my 10 x 5 last Friday and was cut short by weather also. The things I noticed were, the signal created by axis rotation was greatly reduced. It seemed to be more sensitive to very small hot rocks but the signal disappeared after the first pass which was confusing at first. The coil seems stable but my 11 is also so nothing different there. It will be useful for working tight areas.

Today I got the deepest piece of gold I have dug to date. Using my 6000 I was detecting an old push in the Cargos. It was a very faint signal that got a little stronger with each boot scrape. I started removing more dirt with my pick and the signal kept getting stronger. When it was finally out and in the pile the hole was deeper than the coil turned on edge. I was real slow and careful about removing the target so I did not bury it. This thing was coil on edge depth. The orientation had to have been very flat. I only wish it would have been a little more portly. This is the first PI machine I have ever used and I am pleased with it.

I have done this also. It works well enough. For whatever reason the supplied 6000 headphones are terrible in the wind.

From the Cargo Muchachos. A good strong but low signal on my nox. I cut it just to see what it looked like inside, I was hoping it would be a little more colorful. Past threads were very helpful.

Nice finds and good work under rough conditions! Props to you for getting out and not letting the weather completely dictate your hunting. I live in the desert also, being aware of how you feel and never being out of reach of plenty of water are priority one.

I have covered maybe 1/10 of the area. I am using the stock 11, I am using Park 1 , iron on, iron volume set at 1, 50 tones, 6 recovery, 0 Iron bias. The small plate is a 1949 California registration plate. I went back today and hunted in an area that was covered in small demolition debris, slow going. Wheats and 4 silvers today, the charm was eyeball. I believe it will produce more silver but will be a tough nut.

My 800 works great for me also. I have only owned 4 other detector and the Nox is the best I have used.

I got out today for about 4 hours. A couple of old locals told me of an area near a WW2 air field that had civilian housing when the base was in use. During the 50's the county rented the cottage bungalows out. Small wood structures that were built on pier blocks. They were sold off and taken down by the early 60's. Looks to me to be a 10-12 acre area that had maybe 60 small units. Lots of junk but the area has not been razed. Looks like I have a new area to fiddle around at.

F2 set at 0. I am not around a lot bottle caps and they don't seem to be a great consistent signal anyway. Old rusted tin can pieces are a pain no matter what I do.
