Tboykin, It appears you have associated my comments with someone else's threshold and sensitivity adjustments.However I will say that this issue was approaching my threshold level and my sensitivity was also being pushed to the limit.   4. What is the process for those users that are returning their machines. How do they acquire the return shipping documents? Being this is an admitted Whites problem then let those folks know how to obtain the two way shipping stickers so that those loyal customers are not out of pocket because of a factory caused problem with a unit that is less than a month old?
  5. I have a thought that a bit of a review is in order on this developing situation. Here we have a quality company producing a quality product using quality components. The field reports start to impact this new quality products function. Out of the blue comes a rep. who now is saying that out of hundreds shipped only a few have a problem. It is announced that this quality company is hard working on it and has narrowed it down to a software issue. Now it appears that this quality company only has to address this issue on those selected few. My sources who deal with software and code for a living have assured me that if this quality company uses quality components then this faulty software will effect every single detector shipped. It may be time for a portion of this quality company to back up and follow some of their old standards and put this developing situation back in favorable light. I believe the term used in other quality companies is RECALL.
  6. Steve gave a chronological report of what others have found and then backed it up with his own findings. It is very good that we see actual reports that are not skewed by corporate pressure. The consumer needs good honest reporting as we have just seen. As to a full review, I think that time would be better spent on the inventory Steve has gathered that has been waiting for the space to be announced.
  7. The figures i received were 4 lbs (3 to 6 oz) depending on choice of batteries. some battery brand names are somewhat lighter than others.
  8. yes, thank you it is some of the information I needed. Because of some of my findings I have now moved my target to yet another machine. I do not feel that Whites has the MXS up to par yet and once it gets the same type of going over as Garrett did with the ATP when it came out then I might re consider.
  9. I do understand the need for the beach float and no float issues. I do not hunt the water so that was not my consideration. Initially it was announced that the stock coil was epoxy filled and the accessory coils are not so that was the reason I was asking the questions as far as weight so I could use that data to make my decision.
  10. I spent a good part of an afternoon on the phone with the Whites factory. I was searching for data on the MXS and the first thing I realized, was that the personnel were very courteous and friendly but not schooled at all on products. I got shifted to other numbers and I have yet to find out any answers. The most pressing data I was searching for was the weight of the stock coil and the weight of the accessory coils. I was finally told that they would just have to weigh them and phone me back to let me know. Well it has been two weeks and I am still waiting. I explained that many new users do in fact consider weight as a factor and that I felt the factory should offer their product with options as far as coils at time of purchase, instead of having to try to deal again with a system that is less than perfect. As it stands now this new product is in the high 700 dollar range and after you buy a optional coil you now are now kicking the hell out of 900 dollars. With the reported issues so far, I would begin to think that this product may have some volume sales problems or they had better think about a very big price reduction.

The new users depend on the owners manual and even though we may wish that they are also forum members and can get this great data, they might just give up based on what is happening once they try to use that corrupt supplied information to direct there new purchase and have less than positive results.

I have tried to follow this new offering and what is happening is like if you bought a new bath tub and after you received it you find out that it is not a very good tub but would make an excellent Boat They just might as well just re program and re name the options (mode) to match its real functions. I guess we can always just go prospecting for coins and jewelry while also finding an occasional relic provided the SAT and VCO are also set. There might also be a need to work on the manual with those changes.
  13. I began to fall victim of the hype but the release of just these few little clips has changed my mind. The weight and the lack of accessory coils until some future date was also a turn off. I think that what we may see is the changes in function as happened when the ATP first hit the shelves. Those changes should be reflected on what is being talked about throughout these threads.
  14. Seems that the tracking data saying Monday delivery might have not happened. I have seen no where that anyone received their new machine (MXS) today. Just in case, this will bring this thread to the top so those who did get one can easily access it. Woops, I spoke to soon. Someone on the finds forum got theirs just now.
