  1. My 9” Elite Max coil arrived today. I put it on the Algoforce Plus. But first the coil cover was a little loose so I put coil tape on it. I misplaced my power bank (battery), so will purchase another this evening from Walmart and start testing it tomorrow.
  2. GB. I had seen your post previously but didn't really know the answer so I didn't respond. But Yesterday I was out just walking around the yard checking signals as I had added a new experimental power supply for my GPX 5000. Well, I have 2 power drops from the Electric company both underground. One to the house and one to a detached garage. So I was out by the Garage where the line goes to the meter and your post popped up in my mind. I have a Modded 5000 and I just had a older minelab 5x10 DD coil on it. Definitely not a big coil. But I could detect the line from the streen to the Garage which suprised me. I suspect part of the reason is because it was Electrified as I have a freezer etc in the garage that is probably drawing power all the time. I don't think I could have followed it otherwise? Another possible way of locating the line would be to put a tone or signal on the power line that a detector might readily pick up? Often a line like that will run in a conduit of sorts so you might find out if it's in a conduit or not? I asked because if it is in a Conduit the line could be disconnectd at the well house and pulled back through the conduit if the conduit is not smashed. A pull cord could be attached to the wire before pulling so that a new wire could be drawn though the conduit if needed. There is also probably a way to check the impedeance of the line per food so that if there is a break one might calculate the distance from the house the break occured.
  3. Not to be argumentative but I haven’t yet seen a price for the 2000. I heard a mention of roughly 2000 dollars but nothing official yet so it’s hard to say at this point in time. But they have to make a profit and Minelab detectors generally are not the cheapest so I’m not expecting it to be cheaper than either the Algo or Axiom. They just have to convince us it’s somehow better than those detectors. Will it be, we will see I suppose. Will the newer technologies allow us to find more gold with it? I’d definitely be interested to see. But I’m thinking if it didn’t why bother with this newer technology?
  4. Welcome Aboard Airman, or maybe I should say Artman? I owned a Whites Eagle in what seems like a lifetime ago. You can't go wrong with the Minelab machines. I've owned a few over the years. I'm more into the gold prospecting now although I'm not located in a area generally know for gold. I was in the Marines but worked for the AF as a civil service for many years. I retired from Seymour Johnson AFB as a civil servant. Working for the military for me in whatever capacity felt like more than just a job. The folks here at this website have always been real civil and helpful. I have a lot of other interests too but find myself coming back to metal detecting. I always enjoyed it and see it as something I can do even as I continue to age. There is much information here on Detecting already but if it doesn't address your questions feel free to ask. I'm not a spokesperson for this site I just happened to see your post and feel it shouldn't go unanswered. Best Regards, Terry
  5. I would like to have one of his big coils. They look fairly light for their size!
  6. Funny video! Looks like MAW will be in Charlotte NC in August. Probably won't see them but would probably be a fun Concert though!
  7. I totally understand and your decision makes perfect sense. I hope you find that record breaking Nugget. It's out there, you just gotta put your coin over it. I was wanting to get a larger coild myself. Right now the largest I have is a Nugget Finder Evo 15". I wanted to get a 19" Evo but they seem to be sold out everywhere, even in Australia. I tried to buy one direct from Australia but NF doesn't seem to like it's dealers selling direct to customers outside of Australia. I'll pick up a big one sooner or later I'm sure. I don't greatly need one till I leave for the Western part of the US in September anyway. Best Regards, Terry
  8. There is a lot of coastline to detect but it doesn't exactly look like a beach destination.
  9. Darn, I was going to buy one but it's out of stock right now! Just My Luck!
  10. Not that I know crap about this but I agree with PHrunt. It just seems more logical that the GM2000 would be another VLF and meant specifically for hunting nuggets. What could they do to improve the 1000? Maybe wireless headphones, waterproof, It seems like it would be difficult to make it any more sensitive than the 1000. If it was you might need a magnivier to find the gold in your scoop? But maybe could be made to find small gold deeper on very mineralized soil? An even better Ground balance or maybe a really good auto GB? It sure will be interesting to see what they come up with in the end. If some new tech is used what could that be? If they incorporated some kind of magnetic detection Iron and steel could 100% positively identified. That would still leave aluminum and lead but at least we wouldn't have to dig most nails, screws etc.
  11. Maybe that's why they suddenly seemed to have quit making evo coils? I had been wanting a 18". I heard a rumor from Australia that another batch would come out soon but haven't seen any pop up yet. I had been away from detecting for a number of years and thought the Evolution was a new newer model but then I noticed that at least in Australia, they have been out since 2015 or so.
  12. I had no Idea if the 12X4 was worthwhile or not but it was offered to me at a good price from a seller on Ebay from Oz so I bit. I couldn't imagine the 12x4 having great depth but I thought it might have decent sensitivity and be able to cover ground well. I do assume coils with smaller square inch measurements should be the most sensitive. But I was suprised that Goldseeker had found some fairly small nuggets as well with his 18" Evo coil with his un-modded 5000.
  13. I was shopping at Carolina Prospectors a few days ago and picked up a bag of Paydirt. They called it their Nugget Bag. It was a 3lb bag of dirt that cost 120 dollars and said to contain 1.1 gram of gold. So tonight I panned it out. It wasn't difficult panning and had mostly lumpy gold and true to it's name it it had a small Nugget. I took some pictures. It also contained a little piece of quartz that appeared to possibly have some gold in it? I couldn't really verifly either way but I kept it anyway. The Nugget weighted .48 grams and the total weight without the little quartz piece weighed 1.12 grams and with the quartz piece weighted 1.2 grams.
