Flakmagnet, Thanks for the Title, I just ordered the book on Amazon should be great reading in the evenings. Gold does something to people, something bad. Rich ore, nuggets, gold coins and treasure in considerable amounts have precipitated wars, murder and sudden death for hundreds of years, it's no surprise it continues today. I Am sure some of us have seen friends go against friends, wife against husband..lol ...over even smaller amounts!!

When your hunting tailings, you have no choice but going slow, very slow and digging it all. I don't know many place up here in the Sierras where you can swing at a moderate speed and cover a lot of ground. The terrain makes it not possible. But out in the open, America's south west or Australia....covering ground would be the way to go, especially in low trash areas...

Hi Goldgetter, thanks for your response! Glad to hear that you're happy with it..Which wireless system do you use?....I may as well go all the way with it and eliminate the constant snags I have when I hunt.

Wondering if anyone's using the GoldScreamer power packs for their gpx? Thinking I may have to go that route very soon....if you do how do you like the system? Has anyone had any bad experience with using it as its not an official minelab battery.

Interesting, just read all the posts on that forum...a cheap alternative to a Minelab with a Nuggerfinder Evo coil...cant beat that.

Wishing you all the best Chris, this is a reminder I need to get a subscription to ICMJ...I really enjoy ICMJ's increase in nugget hunting stories such as yours. As far as coils, price is the price you have to pay to play :) All my coils that I have bought used or new were paid by the gold I found. You got to have the right tools for the job..something I learned years ago in construction field.

It's entertainment.....nothing to take seriously..kind of like the MSM. Just discovered a pretty cool show called Mineral Explorers. The host travels the world and visits the world's finest gems, crystals and minerals. He introduces the miners and their cultures to the audience and shows beautiful examples of the mineral that the miners search for .

My old Fisher M- Scope another red detector.....lol heavy as heck....got the paper work and original box.

Here's my first detector I bought when I was 11 ..bought it from a magazine. Found many coins in and around churches and some silver. Bought it in 1980 I still think Detectron is in business down in Southern California and last time I looked they advertised it as a man-hole detector. When I bought it of course it was a treasure seeker...but technology obviously surpased their ability to compete in this market of treasure , coins and gold nuggets. Funny thing is I paid around 145.00 think today they are around 450.00..And whats with the red color many early detectors had....Garret had the right color..green blend in with the environment

Jason, is there a link to those infamous nuggets....I don't see how I missed it.....not a gpz owner..can't comment much other than let's give it some time. As I recall when the GPZ was introduced , there was a lot of negative post by many grumpy buyers. How things have changed...looks like the 14" gpz is doing just fine. For me....the 4500...and a new Evo 15 " coil.....to clean up those deeper nuggets..

yup..........they don't grow back....planted plenty of tidbit nugget starters in my old patches .. ..went back and still the same size. At least you got some space rock.....nice scenery....

Thanks for the response fellas, yup the Elliptical would make more sense in my area....the worst thing about going over ground is not knowing if you missed those deeper nuggets do to a small coil. By the looks of it, the 17x13 Evo has the ability to get the small fly specks and reach down deeper for the bigger ones. Nothing worse than not trusting your coil .

Jason any updates on your thoughts on the Evo 17x13 since you have had more time out in the field since the last time you posted. For me its either the 15" Evo or the 17x13 Evo....having extra depth on those pieces ranging form 1-6 grams. I tried out the 12" Evo, found it very good on tid bits...just not to sure it will punch deeper.
