  1. The Tejon is a wicked hot detector..sometimes tricky to tame....but a well capable gold machine. I had one for relic hunting and was amazed how deep it went. I had the 5.7 round coil on mine and on air tests on sub grain gold it did very well. But in the gold fields I had to reduce gain to smooth out the threshold.
  2. This guy was fort knox on feet....flaunting it in one of the poorest countries in the world per capita, should have learned some modesty. I hardly think posting a few nuggets here and there would make any one of us victims...just be smart about it and carry a big stick. I would agree its a good reminder to us all to be very careful who you choose to share information with.
  3. Very nice find.....and 12 grams of chunky gold.....congrats to you Peg.
  4. Wow..............that's a nice one...I 've had many days like that.....skunk all day....and last half hour it shows...just never know.
  5. Its a beauty Rick, and you got that right on trash...it's a numbers game for sure!! Congrats.
  6. Rick, that's a sweet one !! Well each and every little bit is nice, but ones that size don't come often.....what's it weigh in?
  7. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh man, dreamin of a new patch. Oh where can she be....great video....
  8. Very true Rick.....I am going to visit my patches when I buy a new tech coil, just not ready to step up to a gpz..yet that is. Right now its trashy tailings for me.
  9. Rick, You got me excited with the " New Technology " lol. Thought some new up and coming wizard wand was created by one of the detector companies . So many whispers out about new Fisher , Whites gold detectors and so on COMING in 6 to 12 months !!!!! I keep hesitating to buy cause of those dang whispers....great finds with the zed !! Proves again.....no ground is all worked out. Make it a golden Summer.
  10. Yes the SunRay probe is a great tool, I know a few guys who have it mounted on the shaft of their Whites MXT Pro.
  11. Hey Goldbrick, I think and breath nuggethunting ...lol on my days off like today. So let them curse me.... I am just saying I know about digging all targets and I would bet all who say they dig all their targets are not being truthful. Every site is different and I take a different approach depending on the site and what I find.I also visit the sites on and off and over time I do eventually kill the area of targets. But at times especially on new areas, I do prefer to use disc until over time I find that beautiful, darling nugget. I don't have the patience to hit one site and clear it all in one or two hunts...no way ! , I jump from one area to another and over time I locate the areas where I found gold and keep returning and clearing. I am fortunate I live very close to my hunting grounds to be able to do that. But that magic disc pinpointer would sure speed things up and help me locate that first nug...than I can slow down and clear it out in time, at my own pace. Not sure about the electronic, but perhaps they can incorporate disc to the next Pro pointer and add a simple button to check for ferrous. Gold is a motivator..what ever helps me find it faster the better, than I will dig all of it.
  12. I have been thinking the other day as I was digging yet another deep hole with a sweet sound how I wish I could just reach for my small discriminating pin pointer. Something small like a Garrett ProPointer. I could reach for one in my back pocket and check it down in the hole and than I can decide to leave it or clean the trash out. Sure would save some time. Sure I can modify my Tesoro silver U max and make it a stubby disc pointer, but its too big for me to carry around as I have enough on my back all ready. I don't see any sense of nugget hunters with a vlf buying one, but for PI users with a mono coil who just want a quick id...it would be a killer accessory. The way I see it the more targets I i.d. and decide to dig or not dig the more chances of me finding gold that day....
  13. Sounds like a plan....but dang ....that lump could be anywhere. Always comes when you least expect it, good luck.
  14. Here it is , it feels solid and the handle feels better as it slants forward a bit rather than straight. My hand feels natural as I sweep the cool from left to right ans back. The ultimate test will be on the field next Monday. The handle came from an underwater light.
  15. Hey Rick, great idea! Well I heard from Mellisa and Minelab came through !!! They thanked me for sending pictures and story about what happened. In the mean time I already started on fixing my proem. I created my own version of what I think would make a great handle for me. In the rough here it is.
  16. BadaBing, If Minelab does not send me a new one, I may have to figure an alternative and rig something up myself. I am not going to buy another one because it will just break again. The s handle is pretty cool, but for my wrist if wont work do to tension at that angle. I have used the s handle on my Tesoro and after a few hours it makes my wrist sore.
  17. Sent Minelab U.S and Australia a email , let's hope they come thru. Appears this is very common according to the comments I have read.
  18. Hey Wes, I will give it a try..see what happens. When I started this morning I notices a crack on the lower of the handle. It was starting to give, half hour latter, the whole dang thing snapped !! Hope Minelab sends me a new handle....I usually don't complain about stuff like this and just call it part of the job, things break. But this handle did not even make it one year. Anyways on a good note, did find a small picker 1 gram.
  19. Hi Fred i, it is a pain in the rear! I made so with some tape from first aid kit and some duck tape strips, it makes the handle shorter not to great for my paws, but I can finish the day out. I think they need to consider coil weight , and also when grass is high you have to use some force to get the coil down low. The handle as you say takes a lot of force, but than again my first handle was tough. not sure if plastics the same or maybe made abroad with sub standard plastics. Regardless , Minelab needs to design much better handle replacements , I think this one cost me 100 bucks or so with button. I don't want to be replacing these every six months.
  20. Sorry about the spelling I am out in the field and iPhone pad is small for my fingers. Any how , I have to tape the dang handle and make it work as I am out in the field.
  21. This is more of a complaint issue post than anything else. My first GP handle lasted me 2 years or more before it gave wY and broke. The new one I have I bought about 6 months ago and just left be dead in the scrub with no paddle. My observation is Minelab is cutting costs and producing the new handles with a softer grade plastic and for people like myself who hunt daily it's not adequate. I am going to send these pictures to Minelab so they are aware that softer plastics Just don't cut the mustard! Anyone else had the same issue ?
