  1. I might add something that I fell for several years ago. Tom, down in Florida was promoting the Fisher F75 very heavily. Explaining how deep it could go, how fast it was and how much more could be found and I, before thinking had fallen for all the hype, well maybe not hype in Florida. Now I can say the F75 is a good machine, might go deeper, is faster and might find more but to the levels of Florida, NO. In the red/orange clay dirt of Virginia, it struggles just like any other of the VLF machines I've had in the past. I listened to the "you must run this machine hot" to get the depth but not in Virginia or for that matter anywhere the ground is high in minerals. But in the white sand, no minerals of Florida, YES.
  2. Try locating one of those low grunts and dig it up. If it's a very small piece of iron it could possibly be a very old home site.
  3. Wow, that is some awesome relics. History unearthed. Thanks for sharing.
  4. I read somewhere that increasing the voltage on the TDI SL would allow equal performance with the regular TDI.
  5. My F75 will do the same thing when I have the sensitivity above 90 or so.
  6. I'd love to have one for the super trashy areas around an old homestead. But I guess I'll keep using the F75 with the 5" coil for that purpose. In the future I might see into trading other coils for a used one for the Equinox.
  7. Awesome beach finds. The Equinox is truly a great multi purpose detector.
  8. Did Minelab not go though the same thing a few years ago? Amazing what people will do to profit from others research.
  9. But the large layoff in December of 2017 indicated either they needed to trim the fat or sales were down to a point where something had to be done.
  10. Sounds like a great machine. Good for gold prospecting, maybe. Beach hunting, yes. But I don't get to beach hunt but once a year. Waterproof, great. But I'm still waiting for the day when a PI will be developed that can discriminate out nails and still see the deep silver. Not trying to manipulate the ground balance settings achieve such a feat.
  11. Keep it up, the finds will come. Run stock programs to start with. If it gets noisy turn it down a little.
  12. I'm both happy and excited for you. Gold coins are very rare to dig up. I'm still waiting on my first one.
  13. To my that is an awesome piece of gold and a beautiful location.
  14. I'm happy you kept the machine. The more you hunt the better you will understand.
