Mark Gillespie replied to Tony's topic in White's Metal Detectors

Sounds like a great machine. Good for gold prospecting, maybe. Beach hunting, yes. But I don't get to beach hunt but once a year. Waterproof, great. But I'm still waiting for the day when a PI will be developed that can discriminate out nails and still see the deep silver. Not trying to manipulate the ground balance settings achieve such a feat.

Keep it up, the finds will come. Run stock programs to start with. If it gets noisy turn it down a little. -

Decided To Get Me Another AT Pro
Mark Gillespie replied to Mike Hillis's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
I had an AT Pro about 3 years ago and had a blast water hunting. As a result of meeting a guy and his wife who lived somewhere in North Carolina and several silver ore specimens in the back of his car, I sold the detector to him. He told me if the detector was able to detect the ore in these large rock he would buy the detector on the spot. The very last thing he asked before leaving was, "how deep could this detector find a 5 gallon bucket of silver coins", will all I could say was, if the ground was fairly clean of iron trash, maybe 2 feet deep, but I couldn't say for sure. Never heard from him again. -
