Hitler Finds Out XP Has Delayed The Deus 4.0 Update
goldbrick replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in XP Metal Detectors
My Deus ain't going nowhere. I love it like it is. It will be even better when the update and coil are issued. That's not to say XP isn't pissing me off. Come on already. -
It is too bad these machines do not display coords in "decimal degrees " format. IMO its much easier to use.

XP DEUS V4 New Accessories Announcement
goldbrick replied to Ringmoney's topic in XP Metal Detectors
Just teasing you Paul. Seriously, you should buy a Deus. Try mine before you spend the coin but it is like buying multiple detectors due to its ability to be configured in many different ways. This new update is gonna rock!(when it arrives) -
XP DEUS V4 New Accessories Announcement
goldbrick replied to Ringmoney's topic in XP Metal Detectors
Paul, I gave you two chances to trade away that garbage can lid. Foolishly, you turned me down flat both times. Now here you are hat in hand looking to take advantage of me. It ain't happening brother. LOL I may like my Makro products just fine but ever since the light bulb turned on over my head whilst running my Deus it has been like a Barry Manilow song every time I hold that machine. -
looks like fun.

Well said Jim, well said.

I did find the following article in the ICMJ but I don't think this is the one I was looking for although it covers many of the same points. "Detecting for possible mid-range elluvial gold" ICMJ September 2006. Detecting for Possible Mid-Range Eluvial Gold - September 2006 (Vol.76, No

Recently GB_Amateur started a thread titled " How important is getting to bedrock". Reading thru the thread I started thinking of the many nuggets that I have found that have been no where near bedrock, which got me thinking about the under lying reasons why gold(even BIG gold) may be found shallow. I remember reading something by Jim Straight about this very subject. I would like to review this material for my own research and to post it for GB_Amateur and others benefit. The problem is I can not find it on the net. If my memory serves me correctly it was not a publication for sale such as one of his books but possibly a magazine article or position paper. It was not many pages in length. The title was something along the lines of " Finding big gold shallow" or something with similar key words. If any forumites has access to this article please post a link or? Thanks, Merton

You never mentioned what you were doing for ground balance. May as well throw all the other settings out the window if you don"t keep your GB correct on your VLF when in hot ground like that. Many areas in Siskiyou county have clay domes that were once iron pyrites. These drive even PI's a little nuts sometimes. You dug the clay dome up and scattered the mineralization viola disappearing target! JMHO

Disabled Access To Blm, National Forest Land
goldbrick replied to Rege-PA's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I heard through the grapevine that user groups were trying to fight the Plumas NF Road Management Plan with the Americans with Disabilities act. When the FS closes existing roads making those areas only available to ambulatory people it would seem to me that is a violation of the aforementioned act. It would delight me to no end if the FS was foiled in its illegal attempts to close access to the National Forests through the use of the Federal Governments own regulations. -

goldbrick replied to strick's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Can't get any traction on my research for that token. I should post it on Treasure.net to see if the experts can help me but I am just too lazy. -

Lucky, you are like a coon dog for nuggets. You get your nose to the dirt and sniff 'em out. LOL. Beautiful specimen. You deserve it for all the hard work you put in.

Bills place is not high-tone. It is cheap to stay there and more than a few prospectors do. I liked it. LSD is right down the road.

Thanks for the heads up Mitchel

Mitchel, are those threads on this forum? Got a link?

So buy some bear spray. Myself I love guns but if I am detecting in the great state of Kalifornia transporting a gun is just too much hassle. Ergo my likelihood of carrying bear spray for piece of mind.

I have not been over Bald Hills Road since the '80s but I do remember it was a great drive.

Renting A Caravan Or Motorcoach For Queensland???
goldbrick replied to vanursepaul's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Paul, DD Dancer offered some good advice. Just to give you an example of what can happen- A friend of mine was in his 70's, been retired for a while. His wife died, he was adrift in life without a rudder. Like you he had always been enchanted with the idea of nugget hunting in Australia. So he asked his sister if she would like to go. BAM! Bought a couple GPX 5000's and flew down there. I can't remember the town but it was on the west coast I believe. Think remote and expensive. He buys a vehicle which turned into a huge nightmare. Title problems or something along that order. Instead of being out prospecting they were stuck in town trying to get the mess with their vehicle straightened out to the satisfaction of the authorities. As it was they spent nearly three months embroiled in a bureaucratic nightmare. If not for a friendly local taking them under his wing and showing them the ropes they would have had close to zero gold. They only ended up with one ounce of gold and my buddy told me the whole fiasco cost way north of $20,000. I am not trying to rain on your parade, in fact I am extremely jealous and wish you the best of luck. I am sure you have it covered, it is for others that may be contemplating this trip I am just trying to point out the need for prior planning. And if the worst case scenario should befall you it's best to have ample funds. -
